This book was written by Jack London. It is popular among not only men but also girls from respectable families. Jake London is born into a poor family but he has his own dream and objective. He has had many jobs and learned from all the things in society. His abundant living experience is a very useful tool to achieve his books. Because of this, his books are full of masculinity. Maybe society makes a powerful hone to him, so his books are full of life breath. From his lifetime, I know that knowledge did not decide the stand or fall of a book. A bookworm cannot write a wonderful book. So we should pay attention to life and observe life.

The leading character Buck was just a normal dog. At first, Judge Miller was his master. And Buck lived a safe and leisurely life. But the trouble was brewing. In order to find yellow metal. ?Buck was caught by the gardener deputy and whipped on the train to Dyea. He struggled in a fury, but it was futile. The man in red gave him a lesson. He used the club to beat Buck ruthless. And Buck knew that revolting is useless, he should adapt to the environment ----in the law of club and fang to do. From then on, Buck had a big change. The change was slow but it was changing. If Buck in Miller’s home was civilized, this lesson would make him know a little barbarous. Luckily, Buck fit it quickly. He learned to steal and the master did not discover his action. This was a symbol of his morality was broken. In the Southland, under the law of love and fellowship, to respect private property and personal feelings；But in the Northland, under the law of club and fang, whoso took such things into account was a fool, and in so far as he observed them he would fail to prosper. Buck learnt from his experience, his nature was aroused. At last, his best master was killed by Yeehats. Out of being very angry, he killed them in a short while and he thought it was easy to do it. This discovery brought his true nature into full play. Ironically, it was civilized people who had caused his degeneration.

This book has a highlight. It writes nine dogs stories. These stories are full of wit and humor and pleasing performances. Each dog had its unique character. Spitz looked affable, but actually he was cruel. Curly is a very kind dog, but she was killed by Spitz and other huskies. She paid the price of his life for his kindness in the cruel wolves Dave and Francois were fair men, calm and impartial in administering justice, like a human being. After Buck killed Spitz, the master asked Francois to be the top of the dog. Buck did not allow it, but Francois did not care for it. And Dave gave the whole of his away to a worthy cause till it took your life ---- likes the Krohn.

In my view, the most meaningful plot is the love and fellowship between Buck and John Thornton. John Thornton saved his life, making him not die of hunger and tiring. Buck loved him and wanted to help him to do everything. For example, save his master in rapids, win in gambling and save his master in the wilderness. Then Buck became the leader of the wolves in the grey moonlight and the northern lights flickering. So we can know, Buck’s wildness was completely fired up. He remembered the old memory of his progenitor.

Although Buck became the leader of the wolves, I don't think this book has a good ending. Jack London has written two books: The Sea Wolf and The Call of the Wild. The two books all mentioned “a big stick policy “. This polity in The Call of the Wild is successful, because the object is a dog. The blow of the stick and the change in the environment awakened Buck's wildness, so he became the wolves’ friends. But this polity in The Sea Wolf failed, because the object is human, which with human dignity and a sense of self.
