漢堡王道歉!新廣告用巨型筷子吃漢堡,網(wǎng)友指其種族歧視

近日,漢堡王在新西蘭推出越南風味雞肉漢堡,發(fā)布的廣告中幾個白人費力地用巨型筷子吃漢堡,引發(fā)全球網(wǎng)友不滿,譴責漢堡王涉嫌種族歧視。
目前,漢堡王已經(jīng)撤下該廣告。

據(jù)《衛(wèi)報》報道:
Burger King?has been forced to delete a?“culturally insensitive”?advert which depicted western people struggling to eat a burger with chopsticks, the latest western brand to be accused of mocking Asian food customs.
漢堡王成為最新一個被指嘲弄亞洲飲食習俗的西方品牌,該公司被迫刪除了一則“不顧及其他文化人群感受”的廣告,廣告展現(xiàn)了幾個西方人費力用筷子吃漢堡的畫面。

廣告中,幾個西方食客使用巨型長筷吃漢堡,表現(xiàn)出笨拙、滑稽的模樣。
The fast food chain faced a huge online?backlash?after an advert was posted to?Burger King New Zealand's Instagram?depicting westerners attempting to eat the new “Vietnamese Sweet Chilli Tendercrisp Burger” with comically giant red chopsticks.
這家快餐連鎖店在其新西蘭Instagram賬號上發(fā)布這則廣告后,立刻引來大量網(wǎng)友批評,廣告中,幾個西方人用滑稽的超大紅色筷子吃新推出的“越南甜辣醬嫩脆堡”。

The advert, which appeared to feature no one Vietnamese, was captioned: “Take your taste buds all the way to Ho Chi Minh City.”
廣告中并無越南人出現(xiàn),只配了這樣一句文字解說:“帶著你的味蕾一路奔向胡志明市?!?/p>

一名韓裔新西蘭網(wǎng)友Maria Mo將廣告視頻轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)到推特上,外國網(wǎng)友隨即炸開了鍋,該視頻已被瀏覽290萬次。

“所以這就是漢堡王的越南特供新廣告,ok棒棒噠,筷子很滑稽是吧我的天?!?/span>
Maria Mo在隨后的一條推文中痛斥這則廣告不尊重亞洲文化,認為這是一種種族歧視行為:
?"I'm so sick of racism of any kind. Of the kind that makes fun of different cultures. Say no to every single?manifestation?of it."
任何一種形式的種族歧視都讓我深惡痛絕。尤其那種對不同文化大肆取笑消遣的。讓我們對每一種種族歧視行為說不。

在接受CNN采訪時,Maria Mo將這則廣告描述為“Orientalism”(東方主義,原意是指西方對東方社會文化、語言及人文的研究,后多指西方人對東方文化及人文的舊式及帶有偏見的理解)。
她直言:
"I couldn't believe such?blatantly?ignorant ads are still happening in 2019. I could not believe that such a concept was approved for such a big, well-known company."
我不敢相信都2019年了,還有人拍如此愚昧的廣告。我不敢相信這樣一家知名大公司竟能通過這種廣告創(chuàng)意。

Mo said that chopsticks had been used for centuries, so it seemed "foolish and insulting" to portray them as an awkward, oversized?utensil.
Mo認為人類使用筷子的歷史源遠流長,廣告將其表現(xiàn)成笨拙、超大的廚具,實在“愚蠢且充滿冒犯性”。

也有人說,大家可能理解有誤,這則廣告也許是想體現(xiàn)中西結(jié)合但不料卻弄巧成拙:



很多網(wǎng)友也聯(lián)系到之前在中國引發(fā)掀然大波的D&G廣告。
Burger King are not the first western company to be accused of mocking and trivialising the culture of Asian countries in their marketing material.
漢堡王并不是第一個被指在營銷廣告中嘲弄和輕視亞洲國家文化的西方公司。
Just last year Italian fashion brand Dolce and Gabbana were accused of racism and racial stereotyping after they published a video on the Chinese social media site Weibo showing a Chinese model using chopsticks to try to eat a pizza, a cannoli and spaghetti. The backlash in China was so huge that some Chinese websites and shops stopped selling Dolce and Gabbana products.
就在去年,意大利時尚品牌D&G還被指種族歧視和強化種族刻板印象,因為其在微博上發(fā)布了一則中國模特用筷子吃披薩、奶油甜餡煎餅卷和意面的視頻。該事件在中國引發(fā)強烈抗議,很多中國網(wǎng)站和商店甚至抵制銷售D&G的產(chǎn)品。

但也有網(wǎng)友認為漢堡王這則廣告本質(zhì)上與D&G的嘲諷意味不同:


在引發(fā)輿論風波之后,漢堡王8日晚道歉,稱已要求新西蘭公司刪除廣告,并劃清界限表示這則廣告不代表公司價值觀。
“We have asked our franchisee in?New Zealand to remove the ad immediately,” said Burger King in a statement on Monday night.漢堡王8日晚發(fā)表聲明稱,“我們已要求新西蘭特許經(jīng)營公司立刻刪除廣告?!?/span>
