Not really though. Most people understand that it is not actually chlorine that is harmful but that the chlorine wash procedure isn't as effective at cleaning chicken as continual checks and balances 'from farm to fork' which is the UK standard.

Lol that's not how the EU works, the EU does not employ an army of people to inspect and enforce food standards personally all over every EU country. Countries themselves have to prove and police their own food standards, with the EU body acting as the final say and final "policing", most of the work is done by the actual countries themselves. If you can't monitor, inspect and prove your own food standards then you aren't eligible to join the EU in the first place as far as I am aware.
