英語中由動詞轉(zhuǎn)變而來的副詞給英語學習者帶來閱讀上的理解困難，由于平時很少

關(guān)注這種用法，學習者在漢翻英時也很少會使用這種構(gòu)詞方式。這種由動詞轉(zhuǎn)變而

來的副詞譯成漢語時，可以譯成漢語的名詞、動詞、形容詞等。

7.1 翻譯時還原其動詞功能

第一種情況是由動詞轉(zhuǎn)變而來的副詞還原其動詞功能，譯成漢語的動詞。

1. One of them?helpfully?let down the jack while another held Arabella’s back door wide open.

他們中有一個過來幫他把千斤頂拿了下來，而另一個把車的后座門開得大大的。

“helpfully”是由動詞“help”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語動詞“幫”。

2. In an editorial,?the Lancet?says the possibility that the suicide of a child could be

provoked by a?supposedly?beneficial drug would be a catastrophe.

《柳葉刀》中一篇社論說，一種被認為有效的藥物居然可能導致兒童自殺，

這真是一場災(zāi)難。

“supposedly”是由動詞“suppose”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語動詞“認為”。

3. She turned over the pages?invitingly?before the child's eyes.

她在孩子眼前地翻書頁，試圖引起孩子的讀書欲望。

“invitingly”是由動詞“invite”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語 “試圖引起孩子的注意”。

4. Pentagon officials deny news reports that Pakistani soldiers fired at two U.S.

helicopters late Sunday for?allegedly?violating Pakistan's airspace in a suspected

attack on a militant base. （suspectedly attacking a militant base）

消息稱周六晚些時候巴基斯坦士兵對美國兩架直升機開火，聲稱它們在對可疑

“allegedly”是由動詞“allege”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語動詞“聲稱”。

5. London should?undoubtedly?be better than it is, but it is still a thrilling place.

毫無疑問，倫敦應(yīng)該比現(xiàn)在更好，但它仍然是一個激動人心的地方。 “undoubtedly”是

由動詞“undoubt”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語“毫無疑問”。

6.?Hopefully, we will continue to remain undefeated. 希望我們繼續(xù)保持不敗。

“hopefully”是由動詞或名詞“hope”轉(zhuǎn)變來的，譯成漢語動詞“希望”。

7. Those findings we?hopefully?can and will be able to apply to other patients.

我們希望能把這些發(fā)現(xiàn)用到其他病人身上。（同上）

8. The view of the learners is an organic one, with each new role growing

developmentally?out of the one preceding. These role changes are not easily or

automatically achieved.
