6. 3D in Photoshop---3-2.Postcard Symmetry

Let me show you another design driven 3D scene in photoshop. Again, we're gonna use postcards.?

So let me just quickly draw something very simple. And we will go to layers making you layer. And we will create a postcard, ?

So you can see we've got a really nice postcard, so now we gonna to 3D options, select I will plain and instance this object, And we will rotate it 180 degree, using y axis. and then we also will offset moves.?

So they barely touch each other, something like this. So now I will go and overhear press right click, go to front.?

So it is constructing the geometry as we go. So it's very useful if you want to have a transparency layer,?

And you guys are very lucky because It's for Free. For now I'm gonna release this tool and make some good money with it.Also, it's a bit still lagging. I think it's because I'm recording normally, you wouldn't have those legs, Let's say you're doing like a costume design. How cool is that? You are inside photoshop. Dreams came true. Before that, I used to use alchemy for doing that. Now, having these tool really done alchemy? anymore, because alchemy doesn't support Like, for example, if I want to use smudge tool. I'm okay to do it because I'm inside photoshop. I can use whatever tool I want, like let's change it to 99.Using smudge tool. How cool is that. And you can use anything you want, like mixer brush,?

So that's how you use photos. I'm not going to finish this one, but I think you've got the point. So I find a photo that you think is a very good look. For example, look at this angle, boom. So cool that you can change the light as well. ?

All you need to do is think in terms of 3D space.?

That's how you use photos. And instead of like mindlessly trying to work them and get something really cool. you using 3D. And it gives you much more design driven control rather than trying to get something really cool. And as you remember we started with the statement that photos will come as the last chapter because I really want you to explore the design aspect of things. instead of diving into very heavy photo bashing and just relying on single composition, when you use photos, you're very restricted by the photo, unless you have a very good design sense and know how to approach it properly.?

So I would say painting is always much more powerful, because it's all about designing ideas. it's not getting fully photo real drawing or painting, As you can see as separate things. 6. 3D in Photoshop---3-4.Postcard Blending
P61 - 00:00?
Postcards. And I believe it's going to be the last one. So we're going to combine it with our knowledge from previous lessons. So basically, I'm gonna take this guy over here and convert it to a postcard, So it did create a postcard, And I will do the same with the rest of the images. So I will take this one this one further. I will go 3D create postcard.?

So I will select another one. Maybe this one, create postcard. So what I do, actually I would use blending modes, but now I will be doing it in 3D space. So I will go press lighten overlay them. But because this one is a postcard, I can still go and rotate this around. Like for example. Let's do this. So basically, what it it does amazing. I’m having that layer. And I can zoom in, zoom out.?

and get those abstract shapes that I need. Look for different accidents and happy solutions. And like I can go on start cycling. that's a good one. ?

No, you looking for a picture, you're rotating your layer.but it’s very different. And also it helps you immediately. Like for example, I can put this one. I like this one. Maybe this isn't you don't need this one.?

I'm not going to save it, but I definitely encourage you to experiment on those different layers in 3D mode, because like soft light. maybe not. where is everything. So what else do we have? Exclusion. ?

so you can find something very cool and also in terms of lighting scenarios like it's very difficult to come up with something out of your comfort zone. Like for example. What is this guy and then you start painting it over and going to come up with something really cool. maybe vivid light. you can dramatically changed the focal length as well.?

So you see how different it is. There's so much more depth in there. And you could basically keep like playing with a zooming out zooming in, just placing it randomly here and there. And it looks like you've got one story, but using 3D and using blending modes, guys.?

like literally can create so many different things.? Now you have a different setting with different things going on. So try those many modes. You will see how powerful it is. Like you can start mixing different things like, let's say let's overlay this guy on dark amount at some point, make sure it can get very messy. So you need to know where to stop. But overall, it can give you so many different ideas because what it does basically, it creates a composition for you without you actually like a physical painting process.?

because straight away you can start seeing some shapes in different cool things and etc etc. I’m not going to save it. And I'm not going to make demo on this one because we already did the lesson five. But I think I hope you guys find it very useful. And make sure that you play with it. 6. 3D in Photoshop---3-5.Postcard Cross Design
P62 - 00:00?
So let me show you another very design driven example. So let's quickly sketch some kind of profile, Like a seal drawing of a spaceship or whatever.?

Be willing to do it right? It's a very quick one. Something that we do on a daily basis, something like this, So that's our main silhouette. That it could be a spaceship or whatever it is. and then the second one, I will go here. And I would just copy the same one. And I will do like a top view, Or it could be a bottom view.?

And it doesn't matter. so now what I'm I will do, I will go and create a postcard from this guy. I will go and create a postcard from this guy. I've got two postcards, and I will go and merge them. merge 3D layers.?

Now what we got these two layers as postcards. And I will take this one. And I will rotate it 90 degrees. And to be more precise. I need to go to 3D. not that axis. So probably this one 90 degrees.?

For example, I can start sculpting small details like, the spacecraft flying object has a lot of kind of sensors and stuff like that. I'm having full control of this guy,What’s that? Just delete that guy. Because I was painting over there and it was spreading it over.?

Now look at this. We introduced some light group is two guys. Let's group them and call them spaceship.?

So now what we have? we've got, you should take this one. He just dragged over inside this group,?

just like photoshop layer. And now you have a very cool setup, which is in 3D space. So basically, it's like we're designing this spaceship, but we're also having a shadow. It's very powerful because we have this as a part of the setting, Look at a couple of guys standing over here. And then we've got like cables going on and machinery and stuff like that.?

So as we go, I can create like so many things. we probably have a docking area there and people are pouring good things. And all it could be construction. So you can like doing your design work. But then at any point, you can go back towards this guy and start refining silhouette.?

It's very very powerful. So let me just do a couple of more things before we move on and actually start creating something more complicated. Now what we can do basically look at this. We can go and start instance group.?

spaceship. So I can offset this guy. Zoom out. Just quickly change a couple of things. At any time. You can go and visit edit your texture.?

For example, I don't like a couple of those things. I basically go, and i press CTRL s. just changed everything. I can go and start offsetting these guys. Instance this subject.?

Move him around. But you know what is cool? Check this out. Because this is photoshop, you can use your offset tools of any of these guys. You can basically go on even this evenly spaced them. You know what I mean? So it's very nice.?

So let's go and keep instance in that. Instance Move, instance.?

If this was some kind of docking area. Now they are only evenly spaced. ?

Look at this. So cool. like let me group them all of the objects. spaceships. So I can move them together. I can offset them as much as I want.?

And change all my angles. Let's make a more dramatic one. Let's say 15. Zoom in.?

Let’s just tweak that on a little bit, opacity edit that texture.?

So now the set up is very cool. It's like you actually have a 3D space ship. It's actually 2D I know there is no light Information on Top of it, but you really don't need it at this point because we are just designing our shot.?

So basically what you can do? What else you can do? You can go and create a new geometry cube, so let’s just do this. And create cube.?

And now move this cube over here. Actually, now Instead of creating a cube What are we going to do? We will open our file. Postcard. And we will select this guy. So we will find out 3D layer. And we will duplicated to horror spaceships. And now what we will do, merge them together. ?

For example, I can do it for you there. And I can instance this guy. Once again. It's not this guy. Instance subjects. Select it. And creating a big guy over here. So all I need probably to see the shadow. Or like this I drag this shadow. Like we create very complicated space. ?

And you still have control over the shadows over the lighting Information. That’s very priceless. because any time you want to hit the render. And start creating much better representation of the lighting.?

so if i continue painting. It's not special. Like this, now it’s like not spaceships anymore. Could be aircraft construction factory.?

it’s very powerful, but make sure you experiment with those. Make sure that you assemble something different like go crazy with the angles. that's what 3D gives you as an additional power.?

Like the stuff you can create it. Having this in control of 3D space is very unique. And what I like about being in photoshop first. And I can change the design as I go. And plus it's still very graphic. it's not overkill by any textures or any lighting or very complicated geometry and stuff like that.?
