  中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)年鑒展2017

  中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)作為我國藝術(shù)現(xiàn)象的三個方向之一,與中國傳統(tǒng)的藝術(shù)和從西方引進的經(jīng)典藝術(shù)共同構(gòu)成了三足鼎立的狀態(tài)。中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)是隨著改革開放發(fā)展起來的新藝術(shù),以前雖有探索,但難成氣候。自1979 年興起以來,20 世紀(jì)80 年代出現(xiàn)了一系列現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)運動,90 年代至今繼續(xù)發(fā)生著新的變化。其幾十年間變化的軌跡和歷史的痕跡,被記錄在“中國現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)檔案”中。檔案創(chuàng)建于1986 年,伴隨著對“’85 美術(shù)運動”調(diào)查的開展而成立,又隨著時間而持續(xù)不斷地發(fā)展,直至今日。而當(dāng)代藝術(shù)每一年的新變化,則通過《中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)年鑒》來加以記錄和總結(jié)。

  2017 年,我們一共調(diào)查了3776 個展覽,記錄了12780 位藝術(shù)家的材料,閱讀和分析了4652 篇文獻,得到了一系列相對完整的統(tǒng)計數(shù)據(jù),并對這些數(shù)據(jù)進行了慎重的處理,對不同的地點、時間、問題和方法展開分析,增減權(quán)重,根據(jù)統(tǒng)計結(jié)果排序,得到一個初步名單。如此出現(xiàn)的數(shù)據(jù)和統(tǒng)計必然會出現(xiàn)偏差,即無法顧及因為才氣和感覺而創(chuàng)造出來的絕妙之處,而此處正是藝術(shù)精華之所在。我們有一套補救機制,即從這一年的文獻和研究統(tǒng)計中選出十多位在評論和理論方面發(fā)表過最有針對性的論述的藝術(shù)界同仁,會同本年年鑒資深編委,以自己的豐富經(jīng)歷、嚴(yán)格的觀察和高度的見識,對上述的名單進行通盤檢驗,每人具名增刪一位藝術(shù)家,如此來彌補在機械的數(shù)據(jù)統(tǒng)計中不可避免的訛誤和缺陷,形成141 個藝術(shù)家名單,希望盡可能把一年中具有杰出才能的作者和高度成就的作品展現(xiàn)在這里。我們今年選出的藝術(shù)家,有些是在2017 年貢獻了新的作品,有的則是在2017 年的展覽中取得了重要而突出的成績?;诖?,檔案和編輯部對這些藝術(shù)家進行進一步的調(diào)查和研究,建立中國現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)檔案次位藝術(shù)家的專門檔案,成為當(dāng)代藝術(shù)國家檔案的專項,每一位藝術(shù)家的成就也因此能夠得到適當(dāng)?shù)脑u述和介紹。這些方法和結(jié)果合在一起,共同構(gòu)成了中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的現(xiàn)象。

  中國現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)檔案所執(zhí)持的當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不是一成不變的,而是一個不斷研究和討論的過程。但是無論怎么變化,這些標(biāo)準(zhǔn)在每一年度的工作規(guī)范始終是清晰并且可執(zhí)行的。而今年新媒體、新技術(shù)和新觀念的作品再度占據(jù)創(chuàng)造性發(fā)展的主要分量,既符合當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的實際,也應(yīng)合社會演變的潮流。中國在其中,已經(jīng)從一個國際當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的參與者,悄然變?yōu)榫植康囊I(lǐng)者。何處有時代前沿的劇烈涌動,那里必有強大而豐富的當(dāng)代藝術(shù)!我們用以評價的工具和方法,也將會在每次年鑒展中公諸于眾,其中包括統(tǒng)計方法和權(quán)重的設(shè)置、回歸方程的計算方法,都會在展覽中呈現(xiàn)。對入選藝術(shù)家的補充調(diào)查、作品分析,包括訪談和研究,也會在展覽中有所陳列,并經(jīng)由二維碼導(dǎo)向檔案。

  我們在這里欣慰地通報,《中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)年鑒》剛剛獲得了第十二屆AAC 藝術(shù)中國的“年度出版物”大獎。這不僅是對“中國現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)檔案”編輯團隊的長期工作的肯定,也顯示出國內(nèi)國際業(yè)內(nèi)學(xué)者對我們的檔案和年鑒的充分認(rèn)可與表彰?,F(xiàn)在我們把檔案和年鑒的成果以展覽的方式展現(xiàn)在大家面前(雖然因條件所限,原作部分只展出了37 位藝術(shù)家的作品),一方面更有自信,另一方面也希望能夠借此進一步尋求各位的補充和批評。

  中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)年鑒展是北京民生現(xiàn)代美術(shù)館的品牌展覽項目,也是國家藝術(shù)基金支持的重要項目,自2015 年起,每年6 月至8 月舉行,此次已經(jīng)是年鑒展舉辦以來的第四屆。展覽《中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)年鑒》的編輯自始至終都得到了民生銀行和吳作人國際美術(shù)基金會的支持。

  Along with traditional Chinese art and imported Western classical art, contemporary art is one part of thetripartite structure of art in China nowadays. It is a new kind of art booming since the Open and Reform erasince 1978. In the 1980s, a series of modern art movements surged in China. Eversince,contemporaryart continues developing till today. Its trajectory of change is recorded in the Archive on Modern ChineseArt, which was launched in 1986 as part of the effort to investigate the 1985 Art Movement, and hasbeen constantly consolidating. The changes that contemporary art undergoes each year is recorded andsummed up in theAnnual of Contemporary Art of China.

  In the year of 2017, we have surveyed 3776 exhibitions, recorded 12780 artists, and perused 4652 articles/documents, thereby accumulated a relatively complete set of statistic data. Then we analyzed these databy the denominators of place, time, issue and method, evaluated pros andcons,and came up with apreliminary list of artists baseduponstatistic results. As statistic data may bypass the merits of artworksthat derive from talent and sensibility, while it is exactly these merits that constitute the quintessence of art.But we figured out a way of amending such inadequacy of statistic data. More than a dozen of colleaguesin the artistic circle, whose specialties are most suitable for the task,werechosen to scrutinize thepreliminary list, together with veteran members of the editorial board of the Annual of Contemporary ArtofChina.Each one of them was assigned to add and delete one artist from the list, and their nominationsredress the lapses of statistic data and result in a list of 141 artists, which hopefully may represent thosemost talented artists and highly accomplished artworks. Based upon the list, the personnel of the editorialboard of the Annual further researched on the artists included, building up a subsidiary archive within theArchive, a specialized block in the national archive on contemporary art. Hence the achievement of everyartist may be duly introduced and analyzed. Such a process is part and parcel of the contemporary artscenarioin China nowadays.

  The criteria that the Archive applies to evaluate contemporary art are not static, but in a process of constantresearch and discussion. Yet, however they may change, these criteria are definitive and highly functionalfor every annual editing process. Artworks that employ new media, new technologyandnew ideas againplay a major role in creative artistic development this year, which not only further enliven the contemporaryartscenario,but also resonate with the trends of social change. From being a participant on the globalscale, China has developed to become a regional leader in the sphere of contemporary art. Whereverthere isdrasticchange at the forefront of society, there certainly will emerge a kind of contemporary artthat is strong and diverse. The means and approaches of our evaluation will become known publicly duringthe Annual Exhibition, including statistic mechanisms, deployments of emphasis and computing methods.Supplementary surveys on selected artists, and artwork analyses, including interviews andresearches, willalsobe presented during the Exhibition by scanning a QR code.

  Finally, we are very glad to announce that the Annual of Contemporary Art of China has just won the"Annual Art Publication" award at the 12th Award of Art China (AAC). Such an honor not only is a tokenof recognition of the long-term work of the Archive’s editorial team, but also proves that scholars both inChina and abroad have endorsed the values of the Archive and the Annual. Now, by holding this exhibition,we succeed in presenting the outcomes of the Archive and the Annual to the public. On one hand, we aremore self-confident than before, and on the other, we hope the Exhibition may be a wonderful occasion foryou to contribute your ideas and suggestions on how we may improve.

  The Exhibition of Annual of Contemporary Art of China is the trademark exhibition of Beijing Minsheng ArtMuseum. It has been listed as an important project supported by China National Arts Fund. Since 2015,the exhibition is held every year from June to August. This is the fourth time. Both the exhibition and the edition of the Annual of Contemporary Art of China have been supported by China Minsheng Bank and WuZuoren International Foundation of Fine Arts.
