Did you know...
Individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) have a challenging mix of characteristics which makes it very easy for them to gain weight and very difficult to lose weight. The hyperphagia (constant hunger/drive for food) combined with a slow metabolism, makes it very easy for individuals with PWS to gain weight which is why their diet and access to food is so closely monitored.
Individuals with PWS also have hypotonia (low/poor muscle tone), which makes it more difficult for individuals with PWS to exercise and lose weight.?
Just to maintain a consistent weight, individuals with PWS are encouraged to participate in physical activity every day.
