316S11 is a low carbon grade of 1.4401 steel. It shows good acid resistance. It is not easy to precipitate carbide at the grain boundary, so it is not affected by sensitization. It is mainly used for welded parts with a thickness of more than 0.2 inch. At low temperatures as low as absolute zero (- 273 ° C), the austenitic microstructure also provides strong toughness for these stainless steel grades.
1.4404, also known as 316L stainless steel, its carbon content is lower than its family grade 316S11 steel. Although the carbon content of 316S11 is low, it is very similar to 316S11 in most commercial and industrial applications. Importantly, the cost of these two related grades is almost the same, and both can be used for a long time, have incredible corrosion resistance, and are excellent choices for stress centered applications. In contrast, 316S11 is an excellent choice for consumption requiring a large amount of welding, because 316S11 is not easy to generate welding attenuation.
Is 316S11 stainless steel magnetic?
It is an austenitic material and therefore a non martensitic stainless steel. Its characteristics are nonmagnetic.
