Thailand enjoys one of the highest literacy rates in the world
Healthcare is decent and affordable to average citizens. Public tranaportation is cheap. Thais enjoy full employment. Everybody finds something to do.
So, I find Thais content, even happy, and their family structure makes up for what it lacks in western style social services. They have been enjoying a superior position within the south East Asian community for hundreds of years. The royal household holds perhaps the most asset value of any royal house worldwide. In the end, it belongs to the people.
