8e Genetic Libraries

????A library is a collection of DNA fragments that is stored and propagated in a population of micro-organisms through the process of molecular cloning. Genetic libraries have a collection of different DNAs, each housed in a different bacteria.

Genomic DNA library

????A genomic library is a collection of the total genomic DNA from a single organism. Genomic library contains clones of all the sequences from the genome in the particular organism.

????Make a genomic library:

????(1) Cleave DNA with restriction enzyme - manageable size;

????(2) All these random DNA fragments inserted into plasmids, using DNA ligase, (to get recombinant DNA molecules;)
