當晚香玉于17世紀從南美和亞洲首次傳入歐洲時，它的名字引起了相當大的混淆，盡管它的簡單意思是“從塊莖或球莖生長的花”。異國情調的晚香玉，因其誘人的香味和被認為是炫耀的性感外觀，引起了很大的轟動。法國王后 瑪麗·安托瓦內 特命令她的香水師為她創(chuàng)造一種專供她使用的誘人的香氣。在19世紀的俄羅斯，這種花是禁止 宮廷皇室以外的任何人使用的。在馬來西亞，晚香玉被稱為“夜之情婦”。

When the Tuberose was first brought to Europe from South America and Asia in the 17th?century, its name caused considerable confusion, though it simply means a “flower that grows from a Tuber, or bulb.”The exotic Tuberose caused an even bigger stir for its provocative fragrance and its voluptuous appearance that was considered ostentatious. Marie Antoinette commanded her perfumers to create an alluring scent from the flower exclusively for her. In 19th?century Russia, the flower was forbidden to anyone outside of the Imperial Court. In Malaysia the Tuberose is known as “the mistress of the night”.
