作者簡介

霍勒斯·沃波爾是第四任奧福德伯爵（1717-1797年），英國作家。他的《奧特蘭托城堡》（1764年）首創(chuàng)了集神秘、恐怖和超自然元素于一體的哥特式小說風(fēng)尚，形成英國浪漫主義詩歌運(yùn)動(dòng)的重要階段。沃波爾寫了大約4000封信，其中一些被認(rèn)為是英語語言中最杰出的文字。
