The best way to solve traffic and transportation problem is to encourage people to live in cities rather than suburbs and countryside.

While it is claimed that centralizing citizens in urban areas can address traffic problem, I tend to disagree with this statement.

Instead, several measures can be more effective on this issue.

1One effective solution is governments can construct safe pedestrian trails and cycling parts where citizens’ cycling and walking can be guaranteed.

2In this way, inhabitants will be encouraged to walk and cycle to replace driving private cars.

3This not only can abate traffic pressure, but also can lower carbon footprint.

4Copenhagen is worldly prestigious as a cycling friendly city where commuting to work by bike is widely seen, and locals do not constantly complain about being stuck in traffic as people do in other metropolises ,such as New York.

5Apart from that, a good news is bicycle sharing scheme that was originated in Copenhagen has been popularized globally.

6When people are out of public transports, such as subways or buses ,shared bikes or electrical bikes can move them to their destinations site to site ,which can be a substitute for driving. ?

7As it is flexible and cost efficient, people do not have to drive once going out.

With regard to the law level , governments can impose green tax on individual travelers or vehicle providers.

Specifically, if their driving miles are beyond a certain limit, they are subject to pay extra tax, therefore deterring people ‘s reliance on driving.

Also, in some metropolitan cities , such as Beijing where both car ownership and population size are big , even numbered and odd numbered license plates policy has been implemented.

As only half of cars can legally take to the road on a single day, the congestion can be mitigated to a large extent.

What should be specially mentioned is filling a large proportion of people in cities may exacerbate this problem, however prospectors it would seem.

Instead ,business and factors should be allocated to outskirts or suburbs in line with the improvement of underground system and speed trains ,so that workers can commute easily .

Such practice can alleviate city syndromes ,including traffic problems.

Overall ,the above five measures can contribute to modern and green cities where traffic is no longer a threat.
