KETTLE’S YARD

In a quiet corner of Cambridge, is a beautiful house filled with beautiful objects, once the home of Jim and Helen Ede. Thanks to their friendships with artists and other like-minded people, over the years they gathered a remarkable collection.

Kettle’s Yard is the University’s modern and contemporary art gallery. It is a beautiful House with an incredible collection of modern art and a gallery that hosts modern and contemporary art exhibitions.

Collection highlights include:

Kettle’s Yard was originally conceived with students in mind. In 1954 Jim Ede envisaged creating:

‘a(chǎn) living place where works of art could be enjoyed… where young people could be at home unhampered by the greater austerity of the museum or public art gallery.’
