The engineering behind those two roads are soooooo different.? ? The US still has some of the best roads but they are crumbling and Chinas ambitious infrastructural development programme will see it overtake the US very soon. Europe has probably the best road network now in terms of maintainance and Russia has a long way to go in terms of road development. India has one of the worst infrastructure in the world. Express highways are not common in India and its railway system still uses ancient technology. Accidents on its roads and rail system are a daily occurrence.

Highways in Europe are just for getting from point A to point B, while completely forgetting or more like ignoring the experience itself.
Meanwhile highways in the US have unparalleled sceneries and theyre actually for enjoying driving. Nowhere in the world will you find sights like that, unless China starts building highways in a similar way to the US, but thats unlikely.

People complaining about some of the qualities of American highways probably just don't understand how MASSIVE some road networks in the USA are. Easy example, look at Texas, its larger than most countries in Europe, and that's just ONE state out of 50. Want to drive cross-country? Be ready for entire day drives on the freeway, and it will still take you probably half a week.?
Me personally, would love a massive build of public transportation in the states, but with the size and distance between places it will take a ton of time, and even more money.

I think that Russia might have the same problem as here in Norway. When the ground gets moist and it freezes, roads tent to get damaged. The ground lifts in certan places and makes cracks along the asfalt roads. It can be overcome by doing a lot of work with the foundation of the roads but that's quite costly.

Shows how little uneducated Americans know about their own country, you dont travel outside of your city do you? As a truck driver I have been all over US and have seen some of the worst roads in some places, that's right, roads in Mexico are better than INSIDE OF USA. Some states like Utah, Montana, California, Rhode Island have amazing roads, other states like Texas, Idaho, Illinois, Ohio have some of the shittiest roads I have seen. Dont be proud of your country, it is so split up that half of it looks like 3rd world and the other half looks modern and civilized. Some of you also love picking on California how its got no money, but in reality California has some of the best infrastructure I have ever seen. A lot of places across USA are extremely poor and look worse than Chernobyl, I bet you never been there but if you have, you would not want to live in that part of USA.
