“Who are our enemies and who are our friends?” Holding a slightly old book in the Rare Finds, Uncle was reading the first sentence of the first passage.

After its foundation, J-Team collected the Moon and Water Demon Chi one after another in Europe. Noting there was still a long time before the appearance of the star image of Gen, Jackie Chan and the other four went back to San Francisco to rest and adjust.

Hsi Wu still did not come back. He went to Section 13 to store the Water Demon Chi in a glass jar of Uncle. These days, once they successfully got the demon chi, Hsi Wu would fly back to San Francisco to store it. Although it was far away, it would only take him about one hour so did not bother him too much.

“Uncle, why do you get to read this book? It’s not a magic one,” asked Jade.

“Non-magic, like magic!” said Uncle smilingly.

“Enemy? Friend? The members of J-Team are our friends and Daolon Wong is our enemy. So simple!”

“Jade, that’s not always so simple. Enemies and friends can transform into each other, not to mention that there is someone between friends and enemies.”

“Uncle, are you beware of Hsi Wu!”

The five arrived at Tokyo and came to where they defeated Tarakudo half a year ago. A drum kit was behind the piano now.

“Jade! Uncle!” Hsi Wu hastily flew back. But it’s too late. The dark warriors as well as Jade and Uncle vanished.

“Goddamn Daolon Wong! Kidnap again!” Hsi Wu clutched his fist, eyes bloody red.

“What should we do? What kind of requirement might Daolon Wong put forward? The Mountain Demon Chi, or… all of the chi?” Jackie Chan thought he had considered worst-case scenarios.

“I’m afraid it’s not so simple. Daolon Wong might use Uncle’s magic to his advantage,” said Hsi Wu.

“What! It can’t be… Do you have a basis?” said Tohru.

“I…” Hsi Wu felt a little ashamed. “Because I also thought like this.”

“You consider why did I take Uncle then. Because Uncle masters magic!”

“Oh! Then if he uses Uncle’s magic, the strength when Yin and Yang combine will be infinite…” said Tohru.

“But why did he also take Jade?” questioned Jackie.

“Why can I recall nothing!” said Uncle.

“You are Uncle and you are Jade. I’m your friend Daolon Wong. We have been fighting a demon recently. You were stunned by Hsi Wu the demon and had an injury in your brains, as the doctor put it, so may lose part of your memory,” explained Daolon Wong when he produced a photo album where there was a group photo of Uncle, Jade, and himself, and the diagnosis report from a hospital: all of these were edited deliberately.

“Ah! There is a demon… but why do I sense there’s a puff of dark Chi on you?” Uncle lost his memory but his nature as a wizard was telling implicitly the essence of Daolon Wong.

“Great! It seems you haven’t lost your magic power all. As you put it, you are the Yang wizard while I am the Yin. Our master Chi Master Fong conveyed his two magic cheats to you and me, respectively. There will be infinite power when Yin and Yang combine. You mentioned ‘dark Chi’ because you sensed my existence as a Yin wizard, just meaning you are a wizard as well!”

Uncle touched his head faintly ached and reckoned Daolon Wong’s logic was self-consistent.

“Then Grandpa Daolon, what about Hsi Wu, the demon?” asked Jade.

Daolon Wong flipped to the next page of the photo album. “He is Hsi Wu, our enemy. This is Jackie Chan. This is Tohru. They are both Hsi Wu’s minions. And you…” Daolon Wong faltered suddenly, thinking how to fabricate Jade’s life experience to make Hsi Wu look eviler.

“What’s wrong with me?”

“I can hardly imagine the demon will do such sinful things to you!” Saying this, Daolon Wong wiped away his tears.

“What! What does ‘sinful things’ mean? By him I have been…” Jade was terrified.

“No, no! Uncle and I came to save you just before he did anything bad to you. But Hsi Wu was so annoyed that he stunned you and Uncle.”

“But why does the demon look like a little boy?” Uncle was a little suspicious.

“He can turn into the human form, so cunning!” Daolon Wong hurriedly turned the photo album to the next page, showing two photos: one of his bat form and the other of his human form with wings.

“The ultimate aim of Hsi Wu and his minions is to collect all the eight kinds of Chi and to rule the world,” added Daolon Wong.

“Then we must stop him right now!” Regardless of her ‘not cured’ state, Jade jumped off the bed.

“Don’t hurry, child! Watch out for your body! And you have lost your memory so Uncle hasn’t mastered magic yet,” said Daolon Wong.

“Then what shall we do?” said Uncle.

“Luckily, I have magic books! You can learn them first.” Daolon Wong smiled and ordered the dark chi wizards to deliver a great pile of magic books.

“Demon chi can’t be kept safe before we snatch it back. At that time we will also have boundless magic power, looking down upon any enemies,” said Daolon Wong.

Tohru, Jackie Chan, and Hsi Wu came to Mother’s home.

“Tohru! My baby, I have missed you so much! Yong man, little demon, long time no see… where are Jade and the Billy Goat?” said Tohru’s mother.

“Mom, they are kidnapped by Daolon Wong!” said Tohru.

“Daolon Wong?”

“Daolon Wong is the dark chi wizard. He plans to take in all the demon chi to rule the world so we come to Japan to snatch demon chi against him. Though we got the chi, Uncle and Jade were kidnapped,” said Jackie.

“We must find them at once. The trouble of Tohru and you is the trouble of me!” said Tohru’s mother.

Mother and the other three got out to look for Uncle. When they passed the piano once more, Uncle appeared in front of them with the Dried Salamander and Dried Puffer Fish.

Jackie ran to Uncle first but was knocked to the ground by Uncle’s two-fingered slapping.

“Billy Goat! What are you mad about!” shouted Tohru’s mother.

“Aiiee-yaahh! You dare call Uncle the Billy Goat! I suggest you the Madame Tarantul not join in what’s none of your business. The boy in front of you is a demon!”

“Oh, no! Daolon Wong must have done something bad to Uncle,” said Hsi Wu.

“Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao…” Uncle took his Dried Salamander and Dried Puffer Fish and emitted chi magic at Hsi Wu.

“Uncle, don’t be concealed by Daolon Wong. He’s not a good guy!”

“Daolon Wong is another apprentice of Uncle’s master! You the winged monster are a demon!” Uncle used all his strength to emit denser beams of magic light at Hsi Wu.

At this time, Daolon Wong who held Jade’s hand appeared as well as the three Dark Chi Warriors.

“Hsi Wu, your people are less than me this time. It’s your doomsday today!”

“You the demon full of evil, we will tear you to pieces!” shouted Jade.

Noticing Jade’s voice, Hsi Wu turned about, regardless of the hits on his body by Uncle. He didn’t fear these now. As is known to all, an important effect of the Mountain Demon Chi is the strong defense.

On the other hand, Jackie Chan and Tohru were fighting the Dark Chi Warriors.

Hsi Wu walked to Daolon Wong and Jade. Daolon Wong waved his cane to cast beams of magic at Hsi Wu, who didn’t get hindered and went on forth step by step.

Seeing Hsi Wu approaching, Jade was so frightened that she clenched tightly Daolon Wong’s hand.

“Jade, don’t be afraid.” Hsi Wu halted at the place two meters from Jade and stretched his hands. “Don’t you remember me? Don’t you remember all those obstacles we toiled and the joys we shared?”

“You the crafty demon, don’t do anything deceiving anymore!” Daolon said and looked at Jade. “Jade, you must know that he is always good at throwing dust in people’s eyes with sweet words. He nearly succeeded last time just because you readily believed him.”

“You! You dare to make up such a shameless lie!” Eyes becoming thoroughly red, Hsi Wu clenched Daolon Wong’s neck.

In haste, Jade ran to Uncle who still battling against Mother.

“Uncle, help Grandpa Daolon! The demon is to kill him!” cried Jade.

“I will settle you later, Madame Tarantul!” Uncle left Mother aside, running to Daolon Wong.

“Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao.” Uncle recited the spell.

Uncle’s and Daolon Wong’s magics converged and stoke Hsi Wu flying. Tohru stretched out his arms and caught Hsi Wu.

“Good catch, Tohru.” Hsi Wu looked Tohru in the eye and suddenly smiled complacently. “They have Yin and Yang, so do we!”

“So do we? You mean…”

“You have studied magic from Uncle for not a short time,” said Hsi Wu.

“I’m far from maturity.”

“A wizard should always mature through experience,” said Hsi Wu.

“Boy, you can make it. Quickly give a lesson to that Billy Goat who doesn’t know who’s the enemy!” Tohru’s mother encouraged her son.

“Demon, you are afraid this time!” Daolon Wong held his magic cane and Uncle held his Dried Salamander and Dried Puffer Fish. The two drew near Hsi Wu and Tohru and cast magic together.

“The sky moves without halting, strengthen self without stopping.”

“Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao.” Tohru also clutched the Squid Piece Uncle gave him and recited the spell.

The magic of two sides confronted with each other. Hsi Wu with two kinds of Demon Chi was more powerful than Daolon Wong and Tohru also outperformed Uncle who was still not fluent in using magic. Daolon Wong and Uncle were stricken fly and dropped to the ground.

“Run quick!” Daolon Wong and the Dark Chi Warriors turned into a wisp of smoke and vanished.

“Uncle!”

“Sensei!”

“Billy Goat!”

Jade, Jackie, Tohru, and Mother ran toward Uncle.

“Jade! Let’s have a talk!” Hsi Wu flew to Jade and seized her flying away instead.

Mother ran to Uncle first and supported him to sit up.

“You the Madame Tarantul! Don’t dream of buying me!” Uncle swept off Mother’s hand and came to his feet quiveringly.

“You the Billy Goat, don’t pretend to be well. Quickly get someone to support you, lest your legs of goat break!”

“Uncle, we are really your families and friends!” said Jackie.

“Sensei, I am your apprentice! It was Daolon Wong who hexed a certain kind of magic on you to let you lose your memory,” said Tohru.

“Phut!” Uncle gave Jackie a two-fingered slapping. “Uncle doesn’t believe it! As long as Uncle sees you the awful young man, Uncle can’t help beating you. If what you said is real, why the demon took Jade away!” said Uncle, pointing in the direction where Hsi Wu flew away.

“Maybe the couple went dating!” Tohru’s mother folded her arms and turned her head, not looking at Uncle.

“Ah? Maybe they have not developed to that stage yet,” Jackie scratched his head.

“Madame Tarantul, you call this a couple. Then there won’t be rapist under the heavens!”

“Billy Goat, believe it or not. Seeing he was at disadvantage, Daolon Wong left you alone at once. How could a friend be like this at any rate! But if you still believe in him, you’re responsible for yourself!”

“Humph! Not want to see you the Madame Tarantul anymore.” Uncle turned around and walked toward Daolon Wong’s hotel. Although he was not daunted in speech, he knew he couldn’t match all these rivals. He also wanted to find Daolon Wong as fast as possible to look for Jade with his help.

“Never come back if you go!” shouted Mother.

Hsi Wu flew with Jade to the suburb and landed at a height with cliffs around it.

Jade had a glimpse of the landform: no hope to flee. She was panicked in her heart but tried to look calm.

“Demon, catch my kick!” Jade jumped and kicked toward Hsi Wu.

“Jade, progress in your kung-fu.” Hsi Wu smiled grimly and caught Jade’s attacks.

Jade’s mind lost memory but her muscle remembered faintly the kung-fu movements Jackie taught her. So she could use them one by one.

Hsi Wu handled it just properly, to make himself seem to fight seriously and to make Jade think wrongly that she was at the advantage.

Jade and Hsi Wu fought to the edge of the cliff. Jade jumped and kicked off, Hsi Wu dodged, and Jade fell down the cliff.

“Jade!” Hsi Wu spread his wings and rushed down to save Jade.

Hsi Wu seized Jade and flew to the flat.

“Keep off me!” said Jade.

“Jade, I find it interesting to confront with you, have a battle often in the future?” Hsi Wu clenched Jade more tightly, smiling to appear his teeth. Always seeing Jade’s kind and gentle face, Hsi Wu witnessed her furious and aggressive face and felt it refreshing.

“Loosen me!”

“Little fool, you would have perished if I loosened you just now.” Hsi Wu said and still loosened Jade’s hands.

“You’d better not trouble us in the future!” The fighting just now made Jade think Hsi Wu was nothing frightening and a little more confident about her kung-fu.

“I won’t hurt you and Uncle. You are reluctant to believe me, which I understand for you naturally should not trust me without thinking twice. But why do you trust deeply Daolon Wong?” said Hsi Wu.

“You needn’t mention me. I have my judgment,” said Jade.

Jade turned around and wanted to walk off.

“Hey, where are you going? There are all cliffs around here and the city center is far away. Let me send you back,” Hsi Wu said and drew near to Jade.

Jade dodged out of her instinct.

“If you don’t want me to seize you, I’ll put you on my back.” Hsi Wu turned about, “Put your hands on my shoulders!”

Jade came at length and put her hands on Hsi Wu’s shoulder. After all, she would wish she had wings on this cliff.

“Hold it tightly!” Hsi Wu spread his wings and flew to the city center.

“As what I have seen, what else can you do except fly? You even could not defeat me.” Jade asked on Hsi Wu’s back.

“Little fool, you think I really cannot defeat you?”

“Weren’t you forced back just now?”

“That’s because I don’t take you as my enemy, my Jade.”

Hsi Wu landed in front of the hotel’s gate and Jade walked toward the door directly.

“One more thing, Jade, look at this!” Hsi Wu clutched the copper coin necklace.

“What does this have to do with…. Oops!” Jade found suddenly that she wore the other half.

“As you said, you and I, like this pair of necklaces, cannot be apart! See you!” Hsi Wu flew away.

Jade clutched the necklace, looking into the sky.

Jade entered the hotel, and walked into the stairwell, only to see Uncle stumbling upstairs.

“Uncle!”

“Jade! You worried me so much. The demon didn’t hurt you, did he?” asked Uncle.

“No, he didn’t. I am cool.”

Jade supported Uncle to go upstairs. When they approached the room booked by Daolon Wong, they halted simultaneously as if they had prepared it together.

“Jade, I felt these minions were not so awful.”

“Uncle, I felt the demon was not so awful.” The two said simultaneously.

“Then Uncle, what do you think of Daolon Wong?”

“I cannot tell but I think Daolon Wong has his own purpose. We lost our memory so we indeed shouldn’t trust anyone without thinking twice. We keep beware of Daolon Wong from now on. Don’t tell everything to him,” said Uncle.

Uncle and Jade entered the suite. Daolon Wong and the Dark Chi Warriors came to show care to them again. After dealing with these, they lay in bed and were ready to rest.

Jade’s bed was by the window. She drew the curtain a little to look at the night sky by a narrow chink. It was the twenty-ninth day of the twelfth month of the Chinese Calendar. There was no moon and the star flickered brighter than before. They can be seen even in Tokyo the big city. Jade stared at the starlight and Hsi Wu’s face emerged in front of her eyes. Jade could not understand why a kind of favorable impression rose within her of a demon. Alas, it was a pity that such a handsome and clean boy was a demon.

“Never mind. Don’t think of him anymore. Rest well first and celebrate the Chinese New Year tomorrow.”
