曾經(jīng)的名古屋城下武士宅邸林立，如今鮮少有分布細(xì)致的建筑保留著昔日遺跡。盡管如此，這里依然保留著以德川美術(shù)館所在的德川園為中心的歷史街區(qū)的氛圍。

項(xiàng)目從設(shè)計(jì)到完成歷時(shí)近三年半時(shí)間，是在該地區(qū)角落的一處場地上打造的公司會所。原有的住宅是業(yè)主的出生地，如今作為業(yè)主公司的會所使用。項(xiàng)目對舊建筑進(jìn)行更新改造，賦予抗震性能并對功能進(jìn)行提升。

會所由四棟建筑組成。位于中心位置的主樓北側(cè)處增加了茶室和儲藏室，毗鄰街道新建了府邸大門與辦公室。主建筑是擁有70年悠久歷史的兩層木質(zhì)房屋，保留著傳統(tǒng)日式民居的風(fēng)格。

位于一樓的兩室榻榻米房是主客房，建筑師委托一位玻璃藝術(shù)家為這個(gè)房間設(shè)計(jì)了室內(nèi)外的燈飾。

曾作為主人家庭的私人空間所用的二樓，如今被劃分為幾處小型區(qū)域。人們很難從房屋外觀上想象到室內(nèi)地板、墻壁和天花板的現(xiàn)代風(fēng)格。

這里被改造成展示空間，陳列業(yè)主收藏的茶具與掛軸。原有的栗木地板仍更換為栗木材質(zhì)。天花板拆除后，閣樓顯露出來，賦予了空間老房子獨(dú)有的特色。

主建筑北側(cè)增設(shè)的茶室由日本頂尖的Nakamura Gaiji建筑公司打造。茶道室以傳統(tǒng)方法建造。除茶室之外，新建的兩層儲藏室為木制結(jié)構(gòu)，其中一層是服務(wù)茶道和賓客的廚房。

沿道路新建的辦公室成為了會所的大門，鑒于這種標(biāo)志性作用，這座建筑需要融入所在的歷史街區(qū)，并對公司的形象進(jìn)行彰顯與提升。此外，建筑還需要設(shè)有風(fēng)雨門廊、司機(jī)休息室、洗手間和辦公室。

建筑師為其構(gòu)想了傳統(tǒng)的Nagayamon門。為了讓設(shè)計(jì)和結(jié)構(gòu)能夠歷經(jīng)數(shù)百年，柱子和橫梁等重要的結(jié)構(gòu)元素均選擇暴露在外。建筑師嘗試打造一種既傳統(tǒng)又現(xiàn)代的設(shè)計(jì)，為每一塊木材指定尺寸的同時(shí)，對無法用于住宅體量的木頭數(shù)量而不安，然而想象到組裝后的樣子最令人振奮。

在實(shí)際組裝時(shí)，建筑師一度對陌生的建筑架構(gòu)感到困惑，隨著時(shí)間的推移，他開始相信賦予的尺寸是正確的。待建筑到達(dá)其最美的時(shí)期，建筑師早已逝去。現(xiàn)在所能做的就是祈禱這座建筑在遙遠(yuǎn)的未來能夠被許多的愛環(huán)繞。
