In a world where environmental problems are getting increasingly serious, how to protect environment has raised people’s attention. While some declare that individuals can solve this problems，my view, however, on the contrary, is that both the governments and the corporations should also take actions.

Those who are in favor of individuals’ responsibility to attack these problems base their ground on the fact that environmental issues are closely related to human activities. As everything we made about the environment has its implications either in a good way or in an ill way, we have the power. As customers, we can boycott products from companies that do not adopt sustainable practices. Besides, daily practices from normal people can also reduce the damage to the earth.Citizens, for instance, can replace plastic bags by cloth textile , going to work by public transport and cycling instead of driving private cars. Such behaviors may not only support the sustainable development, but also can reduce environmental pollution.

However, environmental problems are too complex for individuals. In term of the influence from authorities，they can enact certain laws concerning environmental protection. For instance ,certain limit could be set quantified on how much pollutant can be emitted per year. If any factory or company who despises the laws, they would be ?subject to severe sanctions by governments. In addition, Reforestation and development of green technologies require a huge amount of subsidies, which means that enterprises with abundant financial resources can cooperate with governments to set up foundation on specific discipline，such as renewable energy research.

To conclude, although individuals’ efforts could not be neglected, I once again claim that governments and big companies have always been the main power for environmental protection to a larger scale .
