牛津大學(xué)客座教授:英語學(xué)術(shù)語言中動詞用法

不同的語言，其學(xué)術(shù)語言的表達(dá)方式也各有特色。本文主要介紹英語學(xué)術(shù)論文中動詞用法。

英語表達(dá)一個動作往往有多種選擇：

? -動詞+助詞

? -動詞+介詞

? -單獨(dú)的動詞

前兩種經(jīng)常使用于課堂講座和日常用于，最后一種則經(jīng)常用于學(xué)術(shù)論文中。例如：

1. Given our fast-paced society, people must routinely put creative solutions to unexpected problems into practice. 鑒于我們快節(jié)奏的社會，人們必須定期將針對意外問題的創(chuàng)造性解決方案付諸實(shí)踐。

-Given our fast-paced society, people must routinely implement creative solutions to unexpected problems.

Put…into practice(口語) = implement（學(xué)術(shù)語言）

2. Many software manufacturers in developed countries put up with/tolerate widespread copyright violations in less developed countries and often even offer local versions of their products. 發(fā)達(dá)國家的許多軟件制造商忍受了欠發(fā)達(dá)國家普遍存在的版權(quán)侵權(quán)行為，甚至經(jīng)常提供其產(chǎn)品的本地版本。

-put up with = tolerate

3. Scientists are looking into/investigating innovative drug delivery systems that can transport and deliver a drug precisely and safely to its site of action. 科學(xué)家們正在研究創(chuàng)新的藥物輸送系統(tǒng)，該系統(tǒng)可以將藥物精確、安全地運(yùn)輸和輸送到起作用的部位。

-look into = investigate

類似的動詞有：

- figure out = determine

- come up with = develop

- make up = constitute

- get rid of? = eliminate

- go up to = reach
