Indie Showcase big on U.S. pix

Twenty-four independent features and four short films will be screened at the Cannes Film Fest under the Independents Showcase at Cannes banner, organized by New York marketing firm Intl. Media Resources. The slate marks the fourth year for the Showcase at Cannes, and includes 13 distributors or film representatives. Latter includes the new Gotham Entertainment Group which reps Michael Hite’s “The Dinner Party.” Of the films being screened, 22 are American indies. Some titles: Hal Salwen’s “Denise Calls Up”; James Brace’s “Headless Body in a Topless Bar”; Steven Diner’s “Peoria Babylon”; Richard Schenkman’s “The Pompatus of Love”, Fraser bresnahan’s “Shut your mouth!”; Larry Turner’s “Tattoo Boy”; James O’Brien’s Venice Bound”; and Samer Daboul and Trevor Sands’ “Finding Interest.” Michael Apted Moving the Mountain”; Doug Witkins’ “No Ordinary Love”; Vince Offer’s “The Underground Comedy Movie”; Steve Kroschel’s “The Adventures of Black Feather”; Brewster MacWilliams’ “After the Game”; William E.
