ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES AT KING’S

Accommodation?
We have a wide choice of accommodation for our?undergraduate?and our?postgraduate studentswithin the College. All rooms have a bed, a desk, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, bookshelves and a reading lamp. They usually also have an easy chair and a coffee table.
Facilities
We make every effort to support students in their academic work and University lives, as well as encouraging them to engage with the College’s rich intellectual and social life. We provide a?range of facilities on-site?to help our students make the most of their time here.
Academic Facilities
We have a beautiful library that is open 24/7 and holds over 130,000 volumes and the Rowe Music Library which has an excellent collection of printed music and books. There is also an Archive Centre and a Graduate Suite of rooms includes a study, graduate computer room, and a reading room stocked with journals, as well as coffee and tea making facilities.
Leisure Facilities
The King’s Bar and Common Room is a bright, well-used space which is open to the whole college community. It has a pool table, quiz machine, table football, daily newspapers and space for events. We also have the Coffee Shop which sells Fairtrade snacks and drinks throughout the day with comfy chairs and a relaxed environment. There is also a Cafeteria and Hall where meals are served aily.

An Arts Centre with regular classes and exhibitions you can attend.
TV rooms
A DVD and a Comic Book library which students can use free of charge
Pianos and music rooms for student use
Great sports facilities including two gyms!

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES AT KING’S

Our relaxed and friendly environment make it easy to meet people at King’s and there are lots of events and activities on offer throughout the year.?College activities?are very friendly and inclusive so it’s easy to join in and try something new.
Some of the things our students enjoy are:
Art and Photography
The King’s Art Rooms exhibit work by students and local artists and offer a range of classes. The space is available for students to work on their own projects as well.
Our underground Dark Room is perfect for those interested in photography. Students have access to the facilities and equipment they will need for processing negatives and printmaking.
Drama and Film
Cambridge is a great place for those interested in Drama and King’s is no exception. The King’s Drama Society put on regular plays and students can get involved in all parts of the productions, both on and off stage.
The King’s Film Society is free for students and holds regular screenings during term-time. Students can also borrow from our wide-ranging DVD collection.
Music
King’s College Music Society is one of the most high-profile music societies in Cambridge. Regular performances are put on throughout the year, some of which are in our world-famous Chapel. There are fantastic opportunities for singers at King’s, with several choirs that you can join.
Sport
The King’s Boat Club is the largest sports club that we have in College and beginners are very welcome to join and learn to row. We have a dedicated mountaineering and kayaking society that runs climbing sessions and provides kayaks for students to use on the River Cam. There are also opportunities for students to join in with sports like rugby, lacrosse, netball and football.
Subject societies
If you love your subject, there are opportunities to get involved with it in the College. We have several subject societies in College including the Law Society, the Biology Seminar Series, The Maths and Physics Society and the History Society. We also have the popular King’s Politics Society which brings top political speakers to King’s and encourages students across Cambridge to engaging in stimulating discussion.
Other activities:
From talks and seminars, to belly dancing, salsa, Zumba and yoga classes, there is tonnes to get involved with at King’s. We have live music, debates, fundraisers, quiz nights and barbeques in the summer.
