The North Americans recovered magnificently to steal away their opponent’s pick of Nuke with a strong performance, and they were comfortably the better side for much of Mirage.

Over on?G2’s map selection of Nuke,?Evil Geniuses?managed to find their footing much earlier than on the first map. Starting on defense, the NA squad recovered from a 1-4 start to take the lead early doors, thinning?G2’s numbers effectively when they tried to take map control and clutching when the need arose. Even when?G2?did manufacture winnable scenarios they often squandered them, and so the European squad ended the half with only five offensive rounds to their name.

A T-side pistol victory and conversion put?Evil Geniuses?in prime position to win the map, but once?G2?got guns up they started to work their way back into contention, thanks in no small part to?NiKo’s impact and?HooXi’s improved fortunes after a woeful game to this point.?Evil Geniuses?remained competitive even in round losses, and eventually?G2?fumbled a 4v2 situation to allow the underdog squad to get themselves to map point and eventually secure a 16-13 victory.

A back-and-forth brawl kicked off the decider of Mirage, with the teams trading force-buy rounds until a?NiKo?4k put?G2?on top.?Evil Geniuses?answered right back when they got guns up, and the North Americans started to take control of the game thanks to?breaking?G2’s economy, with?Timothy?"?autimatic?"?Ta?in particular thriving. It wasn’t until late in the half that?G2?woke up, exploiting a seemingly weak A bombsite, and the European side mustered seven rounds heading into the final half of the series.

Evil Geniuses?won their T pistol and dispelled a force-buy to put?G2?in hot water, but the European squad managed to steal away a win on a full eco to stave off complete disaster. Once?Evil Geniuses?got their economy under control they took control of the half, marching all the way to 15-10 with slick executes and some powerful fragging from?Colby?"?Walco?"?Walsh.?NiKo?still had enough in the tank to haul?G2?all the way to 15-15 against the odds, forcing overtime.
