印章
自古以來,印章在中國就是身份的憑證和權(quán)力的象征。印章不僅具有實用性,而且也是一種藝術(shù)形式,是一門集書法與雕刻于一體的古老藝術(shù),經(jīng)常被看作與書畫并列的獨立藝術(shù)品。印章從材料的選擇、制作的工藝到字體的設(shè)計,都具有極其豐富的美學(xué)表現(xiàn)。其他國家的藝術(shù)家通常在其繪畫作品上簽名,而中國藝術(shù)家則往往在其書畫作品上蓋上印章代替簽名。
這樣,印章也就成為作品的組成部分,是體現(xiàn)作品獨特性的一種方式。

The seal is not only practical/pragmatic,but also a type of art.It's an ancient art which integrated calligraphy and craving.It's usually viewed as a unique art work compared to/that is comparable to calligraphy and painting.
From the selections of materials, craft of manufacturing to the design of characters, seals all have extremely rich aesthetic expressions.
Artists from other countries usually sign on their paintings,while Chinese artists seal on their paintings and calligraphy instead of signing on them.
