Background:
Education punishment refers to the negative evaluation toward a student’s lack of discipline given by the school and teacher in the education process.
By making a student feel sad or ashamed, punishments can help a student to correct bad behaviors, form good habits, and develop properly.
In reality, education punishments are happening in different forms every day in school.

What:
This research is to investigate the method, process and effect of education punishment in elementary schools.
Through interviews and surveys, the investigator studied six cases of elementary school teachers.
Based on case analysis and conceptual reconstruction and generalization of their behaviors, this integrative study tries to explain and understand teachers’ actions and methods of punishment, and to find the direct influencing factors of the punishments in each case.

Result:
The results of the research show that the execution and effect of elementary school educational punishment is affected by the student’s individual background, co-operation of the parents, and participation of the society.
In addition, the punishment method is closely related to the qualification of the elementary school teachers, as well as the complexity of the education situation.
Therefore, elementary school education punishment is case-dependent, environment-dependent, process-dependent, and interaction-dependent.
Education punishment is a critical method for teacher to perform education management and execute education right.

Suggestion:
Education managers need to control the scale of punishments, establish policies of elementary education punishment, correctly advocate education punishment, find its principles and methodologies, and reach education consensus with multiple parties.
