芳香的大巖桐花最早是由18世紀的德國植物學(xué)家大巖桐屬在巴西和中美洲的叢林中鑒定出來的。對于那些發(fā)現(xiàn)這種艷麗花朵的人，以及那些立刻被它迷住的維多利亞人來說，大巖桐花象征著“一見鐘情”。關(guān)閉時，這朵花呈喇叭狀；打開時，五片天鵝絨般的花瓣組成一個鈴鐺。這種熱帶植物被溫暖明亮的光線所吸引。大巖桐花還具有薩滿教的意義，體現(xiàn)了“驕傲的精神”。

The aromatic gloxinia flower was first identified by Gloxin, an 18th?century German botanist in the jungles of Brazil and Central America. To the discoverers who came upon this showy flower, and to the Victorians who immediately became enamored of it, the gloxinia signified “l(fā)ove at first sight”. When closed, the flower has a trumpet-like shape; when open, the five velvety petals form a bell. The tropical plant is drawn to warm, bright light. The gloxinia has also had a shamanic significance and embodies the “proud spirit”.
