????????Friendlies, designed by Professor Han Meilin of the Art Institute of Tsinghua University, is the mascot for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Friendlies made its premiere on November, 11, 2005, the day exactly 1,000 days before the opening of the 29th Summer Olympic Games. These are five personified dolls whose headgear are inspired by ocean, forest, fire, earth and sky, also whose headgear connote. Friendlies exhibit the brilliant, profound and extensive Chinese culture through traditional art patterns. The dolls of Friendlies are respectively named "Beibei" "Jingjing" "Huanhuan" "Yingying" and "Nini." One character taken from their names in order, and they become the homophonic "Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni." (English translated as: "Welcome to Beijing.") Each doll of Friendlies carries a good wish: Beibei for prosperity, Jingjing for joy, Huanhuan for passion, Yingying for health and Nini for good luck.
