I think there are two reasons why our elders have so much?anxiety?over celebrating the new year. For one thing, the celebration will bring another expenditure of money. For another, the rapidly elapsing time places them under a lot of stress. During the celebration, the kids can say enthusiastically, “After the New Year festival, I will grow one year older.” However, the elders would instead sigh, “Alas, the new year ages me, again!” The meanings of the new-year celebration differ between kids and adults. For kids, it marks another march towards the zenith of their lifetime, while for adults, it indicates that they are slipping into their declining years.
