洗澡的游隼
These images are from earlier in the summer when Zen and Zarra were still hanging around the CVNP/Station Road Bridge site before their 2 chicks disappeared.?We saw them around the bridge afterward, and other park visitors reported them to be interacting at the bridge as if there could have been a re-clutch attempt, but when we checked we didn't see any evidence of it, and then we stopped seeing them at the bridge.?While they were at this site they utilized the river often, and this is one of those times with Zen, here walking out from the river rocks into the shallow water with his reflection visible against the algae-tinted green...
Zen dipping his beak in, eye-to-eye with his reflection...
...with water dripping from his beak...
...dipping his head in...
...and getting further in...
Here was another time when he went for a bath when a common merganser was sharing the rock island. The merganser moved away as Zen took this spot, remaining in the background temporarily...
Zen ready for another dip...
The "shake" after the dip, and a flip of the tail...
Feathers in layers after getting wet...
Further dipping...
...and shaking...
...standing and noticing a dog being walked on the path...
...and taking off quickly as the dog approached before he had a chance to shake off excess water...
