couple表示“一對夫妻”時，它若用作主語，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。例如：
The couple were sitting just behind me. 這對夫婦就坐在我的后面。?
如果 couple 表示若干對中的一對，即表示一個單位時，謂語動詞一個用單數(shù)，例如：
Each couple was asked to complete a form. 要求每對夫婦填一張表。
And tonight's winning couple is George and Dorothy Lightfoot. 今晚獲勝的一對是喬治和多蘿西萊特福特。
“a couple of + ... + 復(fù)數(shù)名詞”作主語時，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。例如：
A couple of my friends plan to open a travel agency. 我的幾個朋友計劃開辦一個旅行社。（不能說：A couple of my friends plans ...）
下面一句的謂語動詞用單數(shù)或者復(fù)數(shù)都可以：
The young couple seems [seem] to be happy. 這對年輕人看起來很快樂。
