The poor Marionette was heartbroken at reading these words. He fell to the ground and, covering the cold marble with kisses, burst into bitter tears. He cried all night, and dawn found him still there, though his tears had dried and only hard, dry sobs shook his wooden frame. But these were so loud that they could be heard by the faraway hills. 讀著這些文字,可憐的提線木偶心都碎了。他頹然倒地,把冰冷的大理石吻了個(gè)遍,然后突然就號(hào)咷大哭起來(lái),流下了酸楚的淚水。他號(hào)咷了一整夜,清晨的時(shí)候他還在那兒,不過(guò)他已經(jīng)哭干了淚水,只剩他一身木架子隨著難聽(tīng)的無(wú)淚的嗚咽顫動(dòng)。但這些嗚咽的聲音很大,以至于遠(yuǎn)處的群山都能聽(tīng)見(jiàn)。
