10 years ago this week. 13mm albums sold, 105mm singles. Still can't believe it. I always thought 3rd albums were super important because, historically, it's where artists typically taper off and kind of fade away, OR magically find a second wind and grow- I am eternally grateful that for us it was growth.

從發(fā)行Native到這周已經(jīng)過去十年了。它創(chuàng)造了1300萬的專輯銷售量，單曲收聽量達(dá)到了1.05億次。這個(gè)成就至今我仍難以相信。我這一直都覺得，每個(gè)藝人的第三張專輯都超級(jí)重要，因?yàn)樗菁斑^往，第三張專是藝人們逐漸消失在大眾事業(yè)最后泯然眾人的拐點(diǎn)，或者是如魔法般抓住機(jī)會(huì)再度乘風(fēng)而上的大好機(jī)會(huì)——因此我也發(fā)自內(nèi)心地對(duì)三專充滿感激，因?yàn)樗o我們帶來的是乘風(fēng)而起的成長。

Being an artist is an incredible but completely insane and bizarre existence... People fall in love with YOUR story and your specific way that you tell it (and how well they can relate to it)... but that story is only as good as the actual experiences and events that you as the artist have lived.

成為一名藝術(shù)家，是一個(gè)美妙卻非常瘋狂還很古怪的事兒……人們會(huì)愛上你的故事，和講故事的具體方式（以及他們對(duì)于你的故事的理解程度）……但這個(gè)故事的美好程度只取決于你作為一位“藝人”時(shí)所真實(shí)經(jīng)歷的一切。

I remember when we made this for whatever reason there was a lot on my mind, and I genuinely had a lot to say...which isn't always the case. I was also ready to reinvent our sound, or more specifically, actually create THE sound that people could identify as OneRepublic- I am a die hard shapeshifter so landing on one sound or genre for an entire album has never been my strong suit. With Native, we at least came close. Our first album put us on some planes, but this is the album that took us around the world and back again multiple times. It was never ending.

我還記得，當(dāng)我們出于某種原因做這張專輯的時(shí)候，我的腦子里有很多思緒，而且我由衷地有很多話想要傾訴……情況并非總是如此。我當(dāng)時(shí)也準(zhǔn)備重構(gòu)我們的公眾印象，說白了，就是創(chuàng)造一個(gè)能讓人們立馬辨別出OneRepublic的“聲音”——我是個(gè)固執(zhí)的百變者，所以讓整張專輯都往一個(gè)印象或者流派的方向走不是我的強(qiáng)項(xiàng)。但在Native這張專輯里，我們至少很接近這個(gè)目標(biāo)了。我們第一張專輯讓我們搭上飛機(jī)乘風(fēng)而起，但Native才是那張帶我們走向世界并環(huán)游多次的專輯。而且這個(gè)環(huán)游尚未結(jié)束。

"Feel Again", "Lose Myself", "Counting Stars", "Love Runs Out", "I Lived”... We got the order of those singles WRONG (as is typical) but, thankfully the world decided what it wanted to hear and the rest is, as they say, history.

“Feel Again”、“Lose Myself”、“Counting Stars”、“Love Runs Out”、“I Lived”……也許我們打單的順序確實(shí)有問題（這確實(shí)挺常見的），但謝天謝地，這個(gè)世界決定了它想聽到什么聲音，剩下的正如人們所說，一切已成歷史。

I will be eternally grateful for this album, everyone who has ever listened to it, and whatever impact it is made on people's lives... That is why I got into music in the first place... Make people I've never met FEEL something universal and, as an added bonus, get to see the world and perform those songs for those people.

我會(huì)由衷地感激這張專輯，以及每個(gè)聽過它的人，還有它給人們的人生軌跡帶來的一切影響……這就是為什么我總是把音樂放到第一位……音樂讓那些我可能這輩子都無法相遇的人感受到某種具有普世意義的東西，而我們要往外走，去看看這個(gè)世界，并且給這些人表演歌唱這些歌曲，以此作為對(duì)這一切的額外回報(bào)。
