China has sought to use anime as a means to celebrate their political ideals and history as it has been announced that an anime based around Karl Marx is in the works, a turn of events that will no doubt spark many heated debates.

With cooperation from Inner Mongolia’s authorities and Weiming Culture Media, the animation (titled “The Leader”) was commissioned by the Marxism office of China’s central government – it will be animated by Dongmantang.

A PV was also provided.

The series will focus on the life of Karl Marx, in addition to the love story with his wife and friendship with Friedrich Engels – an air date was not mentioned but it was revealed that the series was created in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth.

The Leader will be broadcast via Chinese streaming site Bilibili in the near future.
