翠玉錄，英文名叫Emerald Tablet（也叫Smaragdine Table或Tabula Smaragdina，直接翻譯的意思就是祖母綠色或翠綠色的石板）相傳是公元前332年由埃及傳入歐洲的煉金術(shù)文獻，煉金術(shù)師相信上面記載著唯一之物（也有翻譯成本源之物、原初之物的，換句話說就是賢者之石）的煉成方法，全文12句話（也有一說13句，看斷句情況不同），wiki上本有三個版本：Newton’s translation、Theatrum Chemicum（一本煉金術(shù)綱要）、Latin Text（拉丁文版）

關(guān)于翠玉錄的起源，個人考慮和傳說應(yīng)該不一樣，并非從埃及流傳出的，而是某個后世人物（最可能是希臘人）寫作的，傳說中翠玉錄是從法老赫爾墨斯的陵寢中發(fā)現(xiàn)的，然而歷史上并沒有這位法老，而且赫爾墨斯并非是埃及的神靈，公元前332年馬其頓人統(tǒng)治埃及后將希臘人神靈中的赫爾墨斯（Hermes）、埃及神靈中的透特（Thoth）、羅馬神靈中的墨丘利（Mercury）統(tǒng)一起來，據(jù)可考證歷史，希臘人將赫爾墨斯也賦予了與透特一樣的稱謂——三重偉大（關(guān)于“三重偉大”的字樣最早出現(xiàn)在公元前172年埃及的孟斐斯附近。在伊薩納神廟里人們發(fā)現(xiàn)一段獻給透特的咒文“偉大的，偉大的，偉大的透特”），這也是Hermes Trismegistus的由來，如果是埃及人所寫，最后一句應(yīng)該不會出現(xiàn)Hermes Trismegistus的字樣。（當(dāng)然不排除某個希臘人得到了來自埃及的原稿，將最后一些部分做了修改這種情況。）
