• “The social problems that Hong Kong has faced over the last six months are destroying the credibility of Hong Kong.?”

• “香港在過(guò)去半年所面對(duì)的社會(huì)問(wèn)題，正在摧毀香港的信譽(yù)。”

他說(shuō)：

• “I find it very sad that some people in Hong Kong do not seem to realise the consequences of what is now happening and that some external people do not understand that their interventions are only making matters worse.”

• “我感到非常難過(guò)的是，香港有些人似乎沒(méi)有意識(shí)到現(xiàn)在發(fā)生的這些事有什么后果，一些外界人士也不明白他們的干預(yù)只會(huì)讓情況變得更糟?！?/span>

針對(duì)營(yíng)商環(huán)境，老爺子發(fā)出的“靈魂第一問(wèn)”是：

• “Instead of international firms seeing Hong Kong as the gateway to Chinese mainland, they are wondering if some in Hong Kong are trying to close the door.”

• “跨國(guó)公司以往將香港視為通往中國(guó)內(nèi)地的門(mén)戶，而今他們想知道，香港的某些人是否要關(guān)上（開(kāi)放的）大門(mén)？”

針對(duì)港人心態(tài)，老爺子發(fā)出的“靈魂第二問(wèn)”是：

• “Hong Kong people should ask themselves the question ‘what is Hong Kong without China?’”
  

• “香港人應(yīng)該捫心自問(wèn)：沒(méi)有中國(guó)，香港是什么？”

談到粵港澳大灣區(qū)，秦智濤對(duì)澳門(mén)大加贊賞：

• “The changes that are happening in the Greater Bay Area are profound and I see Macao taking full advantage of them.”

• 大灣區(qū)正在發(fā)生深刻的變化，而我看到澳門(mén)充分發(fā)掘利用了這些變化。

說(shuō)起大灣區(qū)，他如數(shù)家珍：你現(xiàn)在坐火車從香港到深圳，只需20分鐘；你可以在30分鐘內(nèi)開(kāi)車到珠海，然后再到澳門(mén)……

轉(zhuǎn)回香港，他語(yǔ)重心長(zhǎng)地慨嘆：

• “Hong Kong should be relishing the opportunities that this gives them.”

• “香港應(yīng)該好好享受這（大灣區(qū)）給他們帶來(lái)的機(jī)會(huì)?！?/span>

對(duì)于暴徒的亂港行徑，老爺子旗幟鮮明：

• “Violence, as we have seen in Hong Kong, as a means to an end, is utterly unacceptable.”

• 暴力，正如我們?cè)谙愀劭吹降模鳛檫_(dá)到目的的手段是完全不能接受的！

針對(duì)亂港暴徒，老爺子發(fā)出的“靈魂第三問(wèn)”是：

• “How would British police respond if petrol bombs were thrown at them?”

• “如果有人向英國(guó)警方投擲汽油彈，他們會(huì)作何反應(yīng)？”

答案他也給出來(lái)了：“他們不可能也絕不會(huì)容忍！”（They could and would not tolerate it.）

老爺子是明眼人，不點(diǎn)名批評(píng)了香港有些人對(duì)于“法治”光說(shuō)不練的“假把式”和“掛羊頭賣狗肉”：

• “The rule of law is a cherished matter. Hong Kong’s prosperity depends on Hong Kong people not just recognising this but embracing it whole heartedly.”

• “法治是需要悉心呵護(hù)的。香港的繁榮不僅僅有賴于香港人嘴上承認(rèn)法治，而且也需要全心全意擁護(hù)法治?！?/span>

這意思很明確了：別光掛在嘴上，要行動(dòng)！

談到英國(guó)企業(yè)與香港，老爺子說(shuō)，我們正再一次將目光投向全球，這里的商界人士希望分享香港與澳門(mén)的繁榮。

• “I say again, that is impossible without Hong Kong being part of the China Miracle. That is the basis on which British and other international firms have invested there.”

• “我再說(shuō)一遍，香港一定是‘中國(guó)奇跡’的一部分。這是英國(guó)和其它國(guó)際公司在那里投資的基礎(chǔ)?！?/strong>

• “So I hope and pray that normal life will return to Hong Kong and that, as in Macao, people can again go about their daily lives again without fear and worry.”

• “因此，我希望并祈禱香港的正常生活能夠恢復(fù)，也希望人們可以像在澳門(mén)一樣重新開(kāi)始他們的日常生活，而不會(huì)感到恐懼和擔(dān)憂?！?/span>

• “As we sit back to enjoy this wonderful evening, let’s trust that Macao and Hong Kong side by side continue to prosper from One Country Two Systems and take full advantage of the opportunities that this gives?them.”

• “當(dāng)我們坐享這個(gè)美好的夜晚時(shí)，讓我們相信，澳門(mén)和香港將繼續(xù)依靠‘一國(guó)兩制’繁榮發(fā)展，并充分利用‘一國(guó)兩制’給他們帶來(lái)的機(jī)遇?！?/span>
