[MorningStorm SM64]Invasion of Chuckya - Invasion of Chaos, 4 St
Mar 25, 2023
Stars are at these times:
00:00 - Level Entry
01:03 - 1st Green Tower Star
05:27 - 2nd Green Tower Star
10:47 - Yellow Tower
16:43 - Red Tower
I really wanted to get 6/7 for this video but the star I'm currently attempting is so hard and so awful it definitely warrants its own video at this point. There are some cool sections in this level, but also several sections I absolutely hate. The invisible wallkicks at the end of yellow tower (which to the creator's credit, he did nerf a bit) just don't feel fun or fair but I got them first try that I got there so I won't complain too much (though I choked the slopes before them numerous times).
Most of red tower's difficulty comes from doing the thins + precise wallkicks and fortunately it only took getting 3 attempts past those to get the star. The same can't be said for the crazy box star, which is the star I'm currently going for. I absolutely hate that star and I absolutely hate thins (both these thins specifically and thins as a general concept). And after thins, there's so many more inconsistent bits.
I really liked most of this hack but including a tier 9 level in a hack that would be beatable for a lot more people if not for that one level is leaving a pretty bitter taste in my mouth. Essentially, with one level you are taking the amount of people who could 100% the hack from 50+ to less than 10, which I really don't like. This level would be better as a one level hack separate from this game.?
I DO have a lot of good things to say about this hack, it's clearly better than its counterparts IoF and SNR, but it still shares a lot of their frustrating flaws that have been repeated and carried over from Treasure World and TWDE. I just wish rehashing concepts like thin wallkicks, narrow lavabouncing tunnels, invisible stuff with little to no indication, and excessively chokable linear endings to red coin stars wasn't the standard for super kaizo. You can make extremely hard stars without resorting to those things.
