Ladies and gentlemen, it is the wonderful Florence Pugh.
Hello.
大家好
lovely to see you here, Florence. How is your walk being down our carpet this evening?
I so wonderful to hear all of your voices genuinely,
really, really lovely. Thank you for all of your love,.Thank you.
There really is a palpable excitement about this movie.
How was the experience of joining the cast when you first got the call to be in Oppenheimer?
I think if Chris Nolan at any point in a life calls you,
you'll happily pay for your own train ticket, lane ticket to go home beyond
whatever movie it is that he says to be on.
However, on this one, I felt unbelievably lucky to be with the cast
and also when I was on set working with that level of crew and that level of respect and
that level of hard-working ethic was completely down to Chris.
And I felt like I was a part of something so special and not really even being in every single day.
It was just, it was amazing. It was thrilling experience.
I, this seems to be a thing where the atmosphere on the set seems to be so conducive, as we see in the movie
to bringing out just these wonderful performances from everyone talk us through the process.
Do you, do rehearse before you straight? And what was it like?
I am the shoot went on for a long, long time, and I was only privy to maybe a month of it.
And even in the month that I saw, the set that Chris gives to people is egoless.
You've been hired for the reasons of you and he wants you there because of all the reasons why he got you.
And it's your opportunity to show him why that decision was correct.
And so you have this unbelievable respect for everyone there.
And everyone there knows that they have one thing, which is to basically do a great job.
And it's rare to even, it's funny to say that,
but it's rare that you have that. And it, it just gives that intense,
wonderful energy of wanting to do well by the director that hired you.
There are some truly memorable and powerful scenes that you share with Cillian Murphy, playing J Robert Oppenheimer.
How was it working so closely with him on this film?
I have been desperate to meet him for years.
We've had many mutual friends that have also been surprised that we'd never met.
And then finally, when we met, we were like ,finally,
taken so long to work with him.
These are all of the cast that I was able to whether meet on the carpet tonight
or meet when I was filming of people that i've grown up watching.
They are my idols, like my literal idols to get,
to play with them was just the biggest gift that I could have been given.
And especially Cillian,
Cillian
there are intense scenes. There are very intimate scenes,
and you can only do that truly and honestly with someone that you are respect love and truly admire.
And I, I did all of those things.
And I think he did to me, too.
So it was really, really easy actually considering the,
the content that we were shooting, right?
And I have to say having seen the movie,
I don't think i've quite recovered from it yet in terms of
you own.lucky you
you live with so many questions. It really has an impact on you,
tell me about what you would like audiences to take from their experience of watching Oppenheimer.
Cillian is asked this question yesterday and he said, had a really great answer,
Cillian
which was that he watched the premiere in Paris,
and when it finished, no one moved, everybody waited for the credits to roll
and everybody took in everybody's names on the credits and no one moved.
And then amongst themselves they started talking.
I think that is the thing that any actor, any crew member, any director, when watching a piece of their art,
they hope the audience will just sit and process and discuss.
And I think that's all that we can hope for.
Congratulations on your performance, and congratulations on the movie. In general,
ladies and gentlemen, the brilliant Florence Pugh.
Thank You, thanks everyone.
Thank you, lovely to see you.
I’m now here with a composer of the film, Ludwig Goransson. Hello.-Hello
?I wanted to ask you, what was it like, I guess,
working with Nolan crafting such an iconic theme and score for this movie?
Yeah, it was quite a challenge to work on this movie because I, ?
something I’ve never done before writing music that really is coming from,
all from Oppenheimer point of view, like you the music needs to feel
?like him if you feel like it's coming from his point of view.
So you're channelling all of his emotions and he's a pretty complex character.
So there's a lot of music in there that you need to have a lot of feelings.
it definitely communicates through the music.
It's a genuinely wonderful score.
Thank you so much for stopping by. It was a pleasure chatting with you.
Also a very big fan of your work. Congrats on the recent Oscar. Thank you.
Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you.
I'm joined now by the brilliant Josh Hartnett. Josh, Hello, how are you?
I'm fantastic.
This is a great outing. I'm so excited by this. Look at this thing.
It's an enormous event. I'm very excited. It would be a big premiere for a big movie.
What was it like for you? Becoming part of Oppenheimer. How did you first got a call
I got a call, basically saying, we'd like you to read a script and you don't have to say yes,
but we're probably not gonna send you the script if you don't say yes right now.
So I think I was signed on before I even read the script.
And I, I love every minute of the script.
I love the other actors that I was able to work with.
They're all fantastic and they're mostly here tonight.
It's hard to follow someone like, like Robert who's just an ultimate hype man for a film.
I feel like I gotta get like some, some base out.
No, but I really, I can't say how pleased I am to be a part of this in a small way and just be,
in a Chris Nolan film with these fabulous actors
and having it be opening in such an auspicious time,
talk about this issue, one of the issues that this has to deal with.
Let's talk about that. What are you hoping people walk away from Oppenheimer thinking about?
What was the overriding feeling you'd like people? to take from this experience?
I could tell you what I, I took from it after seeing the film.
I had this kind of intense feeling of how important it is to have oversight in all technologies ,
and how precarious new technologies are ,
when they're first being introduced to governments.
And it could send the world spinning in many different directions.
And this film deals with that, I think very intensely and very purposefully
And having to do with atomic weapons,
but it could be applied to anything else, it could be world changing as well.
And I felt that immediately and strongly when I walked out the film.
your performance is particularly impressive in this movie, in a sea of wonderful performances, but tell me what it is like for you.
What's it like stepping on, to a Christopher Nolan set on a daily basis?
I had an easy job because I had
I played Ernest Lawrence, who was a much larger guy than I am.
So where Cillian had to lose like half of his weight over the course of a few months.
I got to gain a bunch of weight, which is very, very easy, so that part very exciting.
And then just being on a Christopher film set, which is so immerse.
And so exactly what you'd want from a film.
where you don't have a bunch of CGI to kind of a lot of imagining to do.
You're just there with the actors on a set that looks like the set
you're just fully immersed in that time and place.
And it just makes everything so much easier.
It is immersed. I saw it on an IMAX screen.
And first of all, 3 hours fly by. And also, you are just completely engrossed in this story.
Good. that's fantastic. I'm glad you were engrossed.
So as I. I was engrossed when I read it
and I was engrossed when I saw it again,
which is, which is remarkable if a filmmaker can pull that off.
So you know what's gonna happen.
But the way that he puts it together is, ?I think it's typical of Nolan
to do something that's a little bit unusual with the material itself.
So it's not exactly straight biopic but it has something else to it that's signature.
And they kept me on the edge of my seat.
You mentioned Cillian’s performance.
How was it working alongside him? Because it's a stunning performance.
Cillian is master and like it was so lucky to have him in this role.
I mean I say we, but I think everybody who goes and sees the film will kind of feel the same way,
because I don't think anybody else could have pulled it off in the same way.
It's very exciting to watch and exciting to kind of watch onset and be awed by.
like I said before, a wonderful performance from yourself in this movie.
Thank you very much.
Let's hail it for the brilliant Josh Hartnett.
Thank you.
I'm joined now by the wonderful Emily Blunt, Emily.
Hello, London
- the London premiere. -London premiere.
Are you excited?
Yeah Very very. I i've
i'm very excited for my mom to see this film. She's here,
she's coming first time tonight.
So tell me a little bit about getting involved in this movie, or when did you get the call?
What was your reaction to get in the call? Did you read the script first?
No. I mean if you get the call, you sort of run to the meeting.
And it's a ‘yes’ to whatever the scene is or the moment is that he wants you for.
And the character that you play hits you in Oppenheimer.
But what was the appeal of that character? Particularly
she was just like wildfire. She was so exciting, complicated,
kind of a force, not terribly warm and fuzzy,
but who wants to play that? And so。
you share some wonderful scenes with Cillian Murphy.
What was it like working with him on this movie?
We work together on <Quite Place 2>. So we were sort of old pals,
which was amazing, because we kind of played this tumultuous marriage together.
And it's all the more effortless. If the person and if you're comfortable with the person,
I just adore him.
In terms of, I mean obviously you've been on many movie sets.
What's special about a Christopher Nolan movie set?
Is there something in the air? Is there something about it that feels different?
I feel like there's no chaos on his sets. like it's calm,
it's really immerse, it's very transporting.
He's so English. He's like. You know
that it's not like anyone walks around declaring
you're making an important movie that you the scenes to sort of materialize.
And it happens in this way where he's like,
他會說
‘right? Happy?’
‘you're gonna shoot a scene now .Ready?’
It's just it's wonderful because it just feels really just easy.
I'm imagine you've seen it on a fairly big screen already,
but for those people who are going to see this, when it comes down the 21st July,
what is so important about seeing this on a big screen?
You just have to go to the biggest screen. You can find.
That's what Chris Nolan swept bullets for. He made it for the audience.
And for it to be a full kidnap, it's like from the sound design to the immensity of the film.
It like it wraps its arms around you and pulls you right inside of it.
And it's just, go, see it on an IMAX, please. It's worth it.
It really is. Emily. It's so nice to see you here in London
-and congratulations on your performance in the movie.-Thank you
--You are absolutely brilliant. -Thank you, Thank you so much
ladies and gentlemen. Let’s hail for the wonderful Emily Blunt.
