STATE OF DBD MOBILE #12: ROAD TO LAUNCH

Hello People of the Fog,

We are incredibly proud to announce our release date this week! Dead by Daylight Mobile will be coming to iOS and Android in the Americas and EMEA regions on April 16th, 2020.

It’s been an incredible road; we started last summer with just a small beta test that exploded in popularity far beyond our wildest expectations. Since then we’ve been hard at work innovating and iterating, testing and fixing; we’re extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished in the past months and we are so excited to share it with all of you.

To announce the launch date, we had wanted to bring you a big livestream celebration. However, in light of the current events surrounding COVID-19 and Behaviour’s decision to allow us the comfort and safety of working from home, a live event was just not in the cards this week. We really appreciate so many people tuning into our brief broadcast, and situation-permitting, we hope to see again at launch for a bigger spectacle. As we couldn’t share as much with you as we wanted in this broadcast, we’ll be ramping up the announcements and excitement leading up to the big day – follow our social channels to stay up to date!

It’s been a long journey; here’s a recap of some of the cool things to come to Mobile during the beta phase:

The Bloodmarket

PC/Console players may be used to the Bloodweb system, which uses exclusively Bloodpoints to level up Characters by buying Perks and Items.

On Mobile, we take a more traditional approach to levelling; Characters earn experience by performing well in Trials, and earn a new Perk every level. Killers and Survivors have separate Bloodmarkets where Bloodpoints accrued in matches can be spent to buy Items, Add-Ons, and Offerings. In addition, Super Mystery Boxes periodically appear in the Bloodmarket, and are filled with valuable loot such as Iridescent Shards, Auric Cells, and Customization pieces.

Disconnection Bots

Disconnection bots are brand new to Dead by Daylight Mobile, inspired by feedback received from beta-testers that disconnections, both unintentional and otherwise, were having a strong adverse effect on their experience. A couple of months ago we implemented a beta version of bots that seamlessly replace Killers or Survivors that disconnect during the Trial. We are happy with the result so far, and we’re looking forward to continuing work and improvements on the disconnection bots after launch.

Mobile? Cosmetics

To further make our mark as a new title in the Dead by Daylight universe, our art team has done an incredible job designing cosmetics uniquely for Mobile. The Winter Chill Collection first released over the winter holidays, and due to overwhelmingly positive feedback on the designs from beta testers, we have decided to include these outfits for free to everyone.

The Into the Wilderness Collection was introduced as the first set of Super Mystery Box outfits; these pieces drop only in Ultra Epic tier Mystery Boxes, and are available only for a limited time before a new collection takes its place.

Graphics Improvements

One of the biggest challenges of porting a game to Mobile is scaling the graphics in a way that stays true to the game, but performs well on a wide range of devices. We’ve come a long way with improving the graphics (remember early beta grass?)?and we’ve started work on giving existing maps a bit of love. This is an on-going process, so you can look forward to more and more polish in the future.

Beta Testers

We also want to give a special shout-out to all of our beta-testers, many of which have been playing the game and sending us valuable feedback since day one. Community feedback is invaluable to us; one of the major pillars of our development process is to always monitor and take into consideration player feedback. It’s an iterative process, and due to the nature of game development it can be difficult to quickly adapt, but ultimately the player experience is what’s important here and we’re dedicated to shaping this into a game you’ll love and enjoy for years to come.

What’s Next

Launch is just the beginning; we have so much more in store. Our top priority right now for launch is to continue ironing out bugs and issues to deliver the smoothest gameplay possible.?You can also expect a continuing stream of new content, ranging from the addition of more Characters from the core game to more Mobile features; not just now, but for years to come.?Bringing the Dead by Daylight universe to Mobile with a dedicated development team?allows us the creative freedom we need to make this game a unique and exciting?experience?and our ambitions moving forward are unmatched.
