Funny story. After we had eaten, we were walking back through the shopping centre with our masks on, and we all commented on the terrible sMell in the shops. Turned out it was our stinky breath after eating the durian!
RespectOthers
Maybe ‘durian’ is really derived from the word ‘durable’.
Hartono
@RespectOthers I know it's just a joke. but, the term durian is actually from the Malay word "duri", meaning thorn.

In 2019, it was reported that the Library at the University of Canberra was evacuated because of a suspected gas leak, which was later found to be durian left near an air vent. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/may/13/library-stink-sMell-of-durian-prompts-evacuation-at-university-of-canberra

I don't get it, many youtubers especially Caucasian said there's onion taste in durian? Is it gene or anything else that makes you guys sMell or taste differently from most of the Asians?
Blondie’s Dad
This was definitely not a yuk cha, it was very much a yummy cha!. The durian did sMell like fart though! Haha

The group name for these food items is "dim sum" .The activity of sitting around a table leisurely having tea and snacking on dim sum as breakfast / brunch is called "yum cha" .

I really enjoyed this episode. Your family is very open-minded about trying new foods.

Paddy Man
Amy should go back to southern part of China because there is the best dim sum in the world.

as a Vietnamese born Chinese, I am so in love with durian :)))). But I prefer eating fresh durian rather than any durian-inspired desserts

Great video and so fun to watch your family's reaction to new things! The beef balls btw supposed to dip in the Worcestershire sauce. Please do give us an upxe if you ever try the pigs blood!

FoodForFun
Great video, love it... everyone should always try new things for the first time before saying no... :) - FYI - in some dim sum restaurants you can order boneless chicken feet, delicious.
stolen nimbus
Dim sum, my favorite food. Foods like tripe, tendon, chicken feet are prepared differently at different restaurants. If you like it or not like it at one restaurant, you may come to a different conclusion at another restaurant so try the things you don't like at this restaurant, may be you will like them at a different restaurant.
Rogieshan
It was pleasing to watch you & your parents be so open-minded - and brave - about trying new things. I wouldn't touch durian with a 10-foot pole. I would say chicken feet is the no-touch item for almost all my western friends, followed by offals of any kind. Also, the quality of steamed beef tendon can vary from one dim sum restaurant to the next. Some is tough & chewy, while the best one is properly tenderized and melts in your mouth. Cheers!
