In 2019, Linesiding Tours 'China Narrow Gauge I' tour visit Hegang to see what had happened to the steam locos, passenger trains and the small coal mine railway at Fuli. We found steam replaced by diesels and the passenger trains no more. The narrow gauge at Fuli mine was still functioning as were standard gauge electric locos. In 2006, the purpose of the visit was to see SY steam locos working passenger and freight trains on the mine railway. The centre of all things was Hegang Mine Railway Station also know as Jiupei Station but we were able to catch several passenger trains and made around 2 visits to Fuli where twin slag heaps, one active, dominated the area. The inactive heap could be climbed for an aerial view of the steam trains. It also provided a glimpse of the Fuli Mine narrow gauge railway which deserved a closer look.
