HRSV主要導致急性下呼吸道感染，常見癥狀為咳嗽、咯痰、喘憋和發(fā)熱及呼吸音異常，嚴重者會出現(xiàn)哮喘綜合征、呼吸道阻塞、肺不張甚至窒息死亡，個別患兒會出現(xiàn)皮疹、彌漫性紅斑等并發(fā)癥。嬰幼兒中死亡率較高的主要是早產(chǎn)兒、先天性心臟病等患者，老年人中為慢性肺疾病以及免疫缺陷患者。HRSV主要通過飛沫傳播或經(jīng)污染的手和物體表面?zhèn)鞑?，?jīng)口、鼻感染，潛伏期為3～7 d。

HRSV物理穩(wěn)定性極差，在體外組織細胞中培養(yǎng)較難，新鮮標本、床邊接種可以提高分離率。咽拭子、痰液等呼吸道標本均可用于HRSV培養(yǎng)分離，避免反復凍融防止降解。常用細胞系為喉癌細胞（Hep-2）、人Ⅱ型肺泡上皮細胞（A549）、人宮頸癌細胞系（HeLa）細胞。培養(yǎng)條件33～35 ℃，靜止或旋轉(zhuǎn)培養(yǎng)均可。因野生型強毒株在體外細胞組織中容易形成融合病變，因此通常使用噬斑法和微量細胞病變法對病毒進行滴定。病毒分離培養(yǎng)時，在病毒載量較低時很難引起細胞病變，第一代細胞病變往往不典型，容易造成假陰性的誤判；盲傳后在5 d內(nèi)可出現(xiàn)細胞融合等典型病變，但細胞分離培養(yǎng)陽性具有較強的可信度。
