Advice for jazz music students:

1 每天練習(xí)你的樂器。

Practice your instrument every day.

2不斷研究爵士樂傳統(tǒng)，模仿爵士樂大師的最佳特點。

Continuously study the jazz tradition. Emulate the best characteristics of your musical heroes.

3 盡可能多地與他人一起演奏音樂。聆聽你的樂隊成員的演奏，并與他們一起演奏。即使是在獨奏的時候也要合作。

Play music with others as often as you can. Listen to what your bandmates play, and play alongside them. Collaborate—even when taking a solo.

4可能的話，把你演奏的曲目記在腦子里。如果你一定要讀譜，請保持你的耳朵開放。不要被你面前的樂譜或iPad分心。

Whenever possible, commit the repertoire you perform to memory. If you must read, keep your ears open. Do not get distracted by the sheet music or iPad in front of you.

Learn to swing.

6 發(fā)展良好的力度，良好的音準(zhǔn)，良好的時間感，好技術(shù)，好的音色，和迷人的音樂個性。

Develop good dynamics, good intonation, a good time feel, good technique, a good tone, and a winsome musical personality.

7 盡量不要灰心。有時很難保持熱情，但還是要努力。

Try not to get discouraged. Sometimes it will be hard to stay enthusiastic. But try anyway.

8 不要不尊重觀眾。

Do not disdain the audience.

9 勤奮，不懶惰?？犊蛔运??；磉_(dá)，不貪婪。謙卑，不傲慢。忍耐，不急躁。

Be diligent, not slothful. Generous, not selfish. Gracious, not greedy. Humble, not haughty. Patient, not hasty.

10 唱一首新歌。

Sing a new song.
