帝弓跡躔歌 [注一]

［注一］本詩從“歌行體”。此種體裁之詩歌聲韻自由、句式靈活，且常以“歌”“行”題名。因篇幅較長，故?？睍r(shí)按故事進(jìn)展分節(jié)，以便讀者查閱。

帝弓：當(dāng)為稱號(hào)。蔣義彬《千金裘》引《白虎通》：“天弓，虹也。亦名帝弓。”《列仙傳》引《仙書》記載，稱“黃帝采首山之銅，鑄鼎于荊山之下，鼎成，有龍垂胡髯下迎帝，乃升天。群臣百僚悉持龍髯，從帝而升，攀帝弓及龍髯，拔而弓墜，群臣不得從，望帝而悲號(hào)。故后世以其處為鼎湖，名其弓為烏號(hào)焉?！边@里的“帝弓”是“黃帝的弓”，因?yàn)槿撼急?hào)而得名“烏號(hào)”。又模擬宇宙巡獵命途有一祝福名為“烏號(hào)綦箭”，此祝福出自《列子·仲尼》：“逢蒙之弟子曰鴻超，怒其妻而怖之。引烏號(hào)之弓，綦衛(wèi)之箭，射其目?！濒耄╭í）是地名。又見下文“雕弧”條。

跡躔（chán）：猶泛指足跡?！稜栄拧め尗F》：“麋：牡麔，牝麎。其子?，其跡躔，絕有力狄?！保缏梗盒郢F叫做麔，雌獸叫做麎，幼崽叫做?，足跡叫做躔，極其有力的叫做狄。）呂思勉《中國民族史》：“神農(nóng)跡躔兗、豫；黃帝、堯、舜，則宅中冀州，已隱有自西徂東之跡?！?br>

歌行（xíng）體：七言古詩與駢賦相互滲透和融合而產(chǎn)生的一種詩體（袁行霈《中國文學(xué)史》第二卷）。代表作品有李白《將進(jìn)酒》、杜甫《茅屋為秋風(fēng)所破歌》《兵車行》、白居易《長恨歌》等。

Reignbow：帝弓，由 reign（為王，統(tǒng)治）+bow（弓）組成。

Path：也是“命途”的英譯。

其一

君不見昔時(shí)蒼城皆瑯玕，兇星嚙噬蝕不銷。

君不見昔時(shí)圓嶠滿碧瑰，經(jīng)星銹澀路迢迢。

君不見昔時(shí)岱輿具沙棠，墜若流火似焚膏。［注二］

君不見星壑漫際多顛沛，人寰萬世一葦草。

［注二］瑯玕、碧瑰、沙棠皆為古國神話中仙樹，傳說其通體為美玉，果實(shí)可使人長生不老。岱輿、圓嶠、蒼城皆為已毀仙舟：岱輿于星歷1200年在對(duì)抗豐饒民“視肉”的戰(zhàn)役中殉爆；圓嶠于星歷3200年在“鬩墻之戰(zhàn)”中失控，航入紅巨星后失蹤；蒼城于星歷6300年被活化行星“噬界羅睺”吞噬。由此可推測本詩成稿時(shí)間至少在星歷6300年之后，但亦有后人補(bǔ)錄可能。

蒼城：原型或?yàn)椤对企牌吆灐肥蠖刺熘械那喑巧蕉?。十大洞天為：第一王屋山洞，第二委羽山洞，第三西城山洞，第四西玄山洞，第五青城山洞，第六赤城山洞，第七羅浮山洞，第八句曲山洞，第九林屋山洞，第十括蒼山洞。

圓嶠（qiáo）、岱輿：即員嶠、岱輿。《列子·湯問》：“渤海之東不知幾億萬里，有大壑焉……其中有五山焉：一曰岱輿，二曰員嶠，三曰方壺，四曰瀛洲，五曰蓬萊?！谑轻份泦T嶠二山流于北極，沉于大?！?/span>

瑯玕（gān）、碧瑰、沙棠：《抱樸子》：“初誕還云，從昆侖來，諸親故競共問之，昆侖何似？答曰：天不問其高幾里，要于仰視之，去天不過十?dāng)?shù)丈也。上有木禾，高四丈九尺，其穗盈車，有珠玉樹沙棠瑯玕碧瑰之樹，玉李玉瓜玉桃，其實(shí)形如世間桃李，但為光明洞徹而堅(jiān)，須以玉井水洗之，便軟而可食?！?/p>

瑯玕本為（玉石）珠?！渡胶＝?jīng)·西次山經(jīng)》：“其上多青雄黃，多藏瑯玕、黃金、玉?！庇帧渡胶＝?jīng)·海內(nèi)西經(jīng)》：“服常樹，其上有三頭人，司瑯玕樹?！惫薄蹲ⅰ罚骸艾槴\，子似珠?！稜栄拧吩唬骸鞅敝勒?，有昆侖之瑯玕焉?！f周曰：‘有人三頭，遞臥遞起，以司瑯玕與玗琪子?！^此人也?！保ā稜栄拧め尩亍罚骸拔鞣街勒?，有霍山之多珠玉焉。西北之美者，有昆侖虛之璆琳瑯玕焉?！保?/span>

沙棠：《山海經(jīng)·西山經(jīng)》：“有木焉，其狀如棠，黃華赤實(shí)，其味如李而無核，名曰沙棠，可以御水，食之使人不溺?！?/span>

不銷：即不消。

銹澀：生銹。李白《酬張卿夜宿南陵見贈(zèng)》：“寶刀隱玉匣，銹澀空莓苔。”

人寰：人世、人間。白居易《長恨歌》：“回頭下望人寰處，不見長安見塵霧?！?/span>

視肉：《山海經(jīng)》中記載的一種動(dòng)物。郭璞《注》：“聚肉，形如牛肝，有兩目也。食之無盡，尋復(fù)更生如故?！?/span>

鬩（xì）墻：指內(nèi)部相爭。《詩經(jīng)·小雅·常棣》：“兄弟鬩于墻，外御其務(wù)?！薄皠?wù)”通“侮”。

羅睺：佛教典籍中多以羅睺吞日月解釋日月食。印度占星術(shù)則認(rèn)為羅睺與計(jì)都二陰星遮蔽日月引起日月食。羅睺被稱為蝕神，計(jì)都被稱為蝕神尾。

Part I 其一

You have not seen the Cangcheng full of Langgan, consumed by the planet of sentient evil, standing firm till the end.?你不曾看到，蒼城長滿瑯玕，堅(jiān)持到最后一刻，終被有感知的邪星吞噬。

You have not seen the Yuanqiao covered in Bigui, sailing on a path of no return. To the crimson star it rends.?你不曾看到，圓嶠遍體碧瑰，航行在無歸之路，駛進(jìn)那深紅的恒星深處。

You have not seen the Daiyu verdant with Shatang, plummeting like a hurtling flame, burnt like lamp oil spent.[?2]?你不曾看到，岱輿沙棠蔥蘢，墜落如奔騰之火，最后像燈油般燃燒殆盡。

You have not seen the tumultuous journey in the bowels of space, where human and stars alike are transient as reeds.?你不曾看到，深空旅途動(dòng)蕩，人類和星辰無異，皆是一竿蘆葦轉(zhuǎn)瞬即逝。

[?2] Langgan, Bigui, and Shatang are all mystic trees found in primeval imperium legends, with trunks made of jade and bearing fruits that grant immortality. The Daiyu, the Yuanqiao, and the Cangcheng are all Xianzhou ships that have been destroyed. The Daiyu exploded in 1200 Star Calendar during the campaign against the Viscorpus, a Denizen of Abundance race. The Yuanqiao lost control during the Civil War in 3200 Star Calendar, plunging into a red giant and disappearing completely. The Cangcheng was devoured by the activated planet Rahu, Devourer of Worlds, in 6300 Star Calendar. Denizen of Abundance：豐饒民。

Star Calendar：星歷。

Rahu：漢譯“羅睺”。

Devourer of Worlds：噬界。字面意思是“諸世界的吞噬者”。

時(shí)茫茫鴻蒙初啟曙，渺渺大荒見濫觴。

四塞龍虎相吞剝，中崮萬乘舉戈氅。

帝尊明斷納諸侯，金人收兵滅帷燈。

八埏磅礴終一統(tǒng)，九垓浩蕩始同風(fēng)。［注三］

［注三］本段描述了仙舟聯(lián)盟歷史古國時(shí)期，無名帝王統(tǒng)一星球之盛況?！敖鹑耸毡敝傅弁趸厥仗煜卤?、以金人機(jī)巧維持治安之故事。

四塞：指四面都有要塞。《史記·秦始皇本紀(jì)》：“秦地被山帶河以為固，四塞之國也?！?/span>

崮：指四面陡峭，山頂較為平坦的山。

氅（chǎng）：一種像鶴的水鳥的羽毛，可制作儀仗用的旗幡。

金人收兵：賈誼《過秦論》：“隳名城，殺豪俊，收天下之兵，聚之咸陽，銷鋒鍉，鑄以為金人十二，以弱天下之民?！?/span>

帷燈：帷帳中的明燈，形容事情若隱若現(xiàn)，無法隱藏。

八埏（yán）、九垓：八埏指八方邊際之處，即天地之終極；九垓指中央至八極之地。司馬相如《封禪文》：“大漢之德，逢涌原泉，沕潏曼羨，旁魄四塞，云布霧散，上暢九垓，下溯八埏。”

In the beginning when the world was new, the wastelands to our ancestors did attend.?在世界還很新的時(shí)候，我們的祖先便在開墾荒蕪之地。

Where nations warred amongst forts, where the plain cavalry's banners did suspend. 此時(shí)各國戰(zhàn)爭不斷，而平原上有騎兵的旌旗飄揚(yáng)。

The wise sovereign quelled the local lords. Using Aurumatons, did deceit cease and mend. 那位雄主平定了諸侯。用金人消除欺詐，改善時(shí)弊。

All cardinal directions were ruled under one. A world unified, standing unbent.[?3]?四方歸于一人。天下一統(tǒng)，屹立不倒。

[?3] This section describes the glorious days when the unnamed sovereign united the entire planet during the Primeval Imperium Age of the Xianzhou Alliance. "Replacement by Aurumaton" refers to the story of the sovereign's ban on all forms of weaponry and replacing security institutions with Aurumatons and Ingenia to maintain public order.?本節(jié)描述了無名君王在仙舟聯(lián)盟的古國時(shí)代統(tǒng)一天下的輝煌歷史。 “用金人”指的是禁止一切形式的武器，而用金人和機(jī)巧維持公共秩序之事。

Aurumaton：金人。由前綴 aurum（意思是“金”）+?automaton（自動(dòng)人形機(jī)器人）組成。

接翼：翅膀挨著翅膀。

更擊復(fù)更思：猶越打越思念。元稹《說劍》：“高唱荊卿歌，亂擊相如缶。更擊復(fù)更唱，更酌亦更壽?！?/p>

穹桑：高大的桑樹?；?yàn)榈孛?。王其和《清代雅學(xué)史》引《別雅》：“穹桑，空桑也?！秴斡[》:‘伊尹生于穹桑’;《春秋緯》:‘少昊邑于穹?！?。即空桑也?！?/p>

翾（xuān）翔：飛翔。

The divine race encroached and covered the sky. From Muldrasil poured these fiends.[?4]?神族侵入，遮蔽天空。這些惡魔來自穹桑。

Wingweaver：造翼者。由 wing（翅膀）+weaver（紡織工）組成。

九艨出一曰曜青，艨中洞天多任俠。

俠者大也莫帝弓，能擘雕弧狩游星。

上絕辰垠摘石珀，下會(huì)星淵斗虛鯨。［注六］

旦銷偃偶搖鐵鉞，夕斬視肉搴旌旗。［注七］

五艟岡巒煙燧滅，八艫河川氛霧霽。［注八］

追憶帝君平古州，威武不與帝弓齊。

［注六］“摘石珀”猶指仙舟民觀測到星神“克里珀”之星墻一事?！岸诽擌L”指約星歷500年前后，仙舟聯(lián)盟與虛空歌鯨群落接觸一事。“斗虛鯨”應(yīng)在“摘石珀”之前，但作者為使行文連貫將之倒置；另據(jù)記載，帝弓生于星歷1700年前后，絕無親歷此類事件可能，此處顯然為挪用。后文多見此類情況，故不再贅述。

［注七］“銷偃偶”指仙舟民從金人手中奪取艦船控制權(quán)一事，起于星歷1400年前后，止于歲陽之戰(zhàn)。“斬視肉”指星歷1200年前后仙舟與視肉作戰(zhàn)一事。

曜青：《云笈七簽》：“第七羅浮山洞????周回五百里，名曰朱明曜真之洞天，在循州博羅縣，屬青精先生治之?！薄瓣浊唷被蚋淖浴瓣渍妗?。

擘雕弧：張開裝飾了雕花的弓。王維《少年行》：“一身能擘兩雕弧，虜騎千重只似無。”

雕弧即雕弓。張聞?dòng)瘛豆糯煳臍v法講座》引蘇軾《江城子·密州出獵》：“會(huì)挽雕弓如滿月，西北望，射天狼?！辈⒔忉尅暗窆睘樘旃盎∈浮毙恰Ｓ忠妒酚洝ぬ旃贂氛x：“弧九星，在狼東南，天之弓也。以伐叛懷遠(yuǎn)，又主備盜賊之知奸邪者?！奔啊稌x書·天文志》：“狼一星，在東并東南。狼為野將，主侵略?！薄盎【判?，在狼東南，天弓也，主備盜賊，常向于狼?！钡贸鼋Y(jié)論說，“天弓即弧矢，就是對(duì)付天狼的?！?/p>

辰垠：星辰的邊界。古時(shí)“辰”指恒星。

虛鯨：原型或許是道格拉斯·亞當(dāng)斯《生命，宇宙以及一切》第 12 章中的“銀色大角星超虛鯨”（silver Arcturan Megavoidwhale）。又白居易《答箭簇》：“何不向西射？西天有狼星；何不向東射？東海有長鯨。”

搴（qiān）：拔取。

星墻：原型或?yàn)槌滦桥?，如獵戶座斗篷（Orion’s cloak）。

歲陽：古人發(fā)現(xiàn)木星運(yùn)行周期大約為十二年，因此將木星定為歲星，用來記年。做法是：將天赤道帶均勻分為十二等分，每份稱為“次”。木星每年會(huì)行經(jīng)一次。之后又設(shè)想一個(gè)運(yùn)行方向與木星相反的天體，稱為“歲陰”“太陰”或“太歲”，因此歲星又稱為“歲陽”。

Amongst the Nine was one Yaoqing, its delves had many heroes attend.?九舟當(dāng)中有曜青，許多英雄來到它的洞穴。

按：英譯給人的感覺是，很多英雄從各個(gè)地方來到曜青，探索它的洞穴（洞天）。所以，英文圈沒有帝弓生于曜青的說法。

The greatest among them was the Reignbow. With their bow, even stars may rend.?他們之中最偉大的便是帝弓，他的弓箭連繁星也能撕裂。

From the budding shores where ambers are plucked, to the stellar abyss where void whales fend.[?6] 在新岸采掘琥珀，于星淵抵御虛鯨；

Flames of war snuffed from the five Navium Astriger, mists of memory on the eight Xianzhou ships' rivers ascend.[?8] 戰(zhàn)火在五艘星艦上止息，記憶的霧靄在八座仙舟的河中升起。

Remember how sovereign ruled the ancient lands, yet the mighty Reignbow none may contend.?仍記得君王治理古代的土地，但強(qiáng)大的帝弓無可匹敵。

[?6] "From the budding shores where ambers are plucked" refers to when Xianzhou observed the Celestial Comet Wall being built by the Aeon Qlipoth. "Where void whales fend" refers to the Xianzhou Alliance coming into contact with the void song whales around 500 Star Calendar. This event should have happened before "ambers are plucked," but the poet inverted their order for linguistic flow. Also, based on historical records, the Reignbow Arbiter was born in approximately 1700 Star Calendar, and could not possibly have participated in the aforementioned events. This is evidently a misappropriation. This occurs repeatedly in the text from here on, and individual instances will not be noted further. “在新岸采掘琥珀”?指的是仙舟觀測到星神“克里珀”的星墻。“于星淵抵御虛鯨”指的是仙舟聯(lián)盟于星歷 500 年前后與虛空歌鯨接觸。這件事應(yīng)該發(fā)生在 “采掘琥珀”之前，但詩人為了語言的流暢而顛倒了次序。此外，根據(jù)歷史記錄，帝弓出生于星歷 1700 年前后，不可能參與上述事件。這顯然是誤用。這種錯(cuò)誤還會(huì)多次出現(xiàn)，之后不再做詳細(xì)說明。

[?7] "Puppets disempowered by iron mallets" refers to the Xianzhou people wresting control of the ships from the Aurumatons, starting around 1400 Star Calendar and finishing with the Heliobi Wars. "Slaying Viscorpus" recounts the Xianzhou's battle against the Viscorpus around 1200 Star Calendar.?“錘打傀儡取回權(quán)力” 指的是仙舟民奪回仙舟控制權(quán)之事，此事起于星歷 1400 年左右，終結(jié)于歲陽之戰(zhàn)?！皻∫暼狻闭f的是仙舟民在星歷 1200 年左右與視肉作戰(zhàn)的經(jīng)歷。

[?8] The "five Navium Astriger" and the "eight Xianzhou ships" are figurative, used to represent the entire flotilla of the Xianzhou Alliance. This is not an actual count. “五艘星艦”和 “八座仙舟”是修辭，代指整個(gè)仙舟聯(lián)盟的艦隊(duì)，不是實(shí)際的計(jì)數(shù)。

delve：洞穴的古語，即洞天。

Navium Astriger：星艦。navium 是拉丁語 navis（船只）的復(fù)數(shù)。astriger 由?astra（星星）和后綴 -ger（攜帶、承載）組成。

Celestial Comet Wall：星墻，字面意思是“天上的彗星墻”。

Aeon：星神。字面意思是“移涌”，指從神的體內(nèi)流溢出來的屬性。

void song whales：虛空歌鯨。

Heliobi：歲陽。由?helios（太陽）和 -bi（表示生物）組成。見前文“歲陽”條。

君子磊磊駕玄兔，君子落落馭金烏。［注一］

緣見無根飄零火，未知?dú)q陽是流毒。

不成文章能作祟，不憑詩酒可娛人。

須通幻化皆夢寐，休將悲歡饗鬼神。［注二］

［注一］在古國神話中，“玄兔”代指月亮，“金烏”代指太陽。此處指帝弓（仙舟）在宇宙中航行。

磊磊：形容石頭堆疊。屈原《九歌·山鬼》：“采三秀兮于山間，石磊磊兮葛蔓蔓?！?/span>

落落：形容稀疏；性格孤高等。陸機(jī)《嘆逝賦》：“親落落而日稀，友靡靡而愈索?！弊笏肌对伿吩姟罚骸奥渎涓F巷士，抱影守空廬。”

磊磊落落：形容胸懷坦蕩。《晉書·載記第五》：“大丈夫行事當(dāng)礌礌落落，如日月皎然……”

玄兔：代指月亮。謝莊《月賦》：“引玄兔于帝臺(tái)，集素娥于后庭。”

金烏：代指太陽。傳說太陽中有三足烏。

Part II 其二

In multitude, the Xianzhou piloted the Gloomy Hare. In solitude, the Xianzhou drove the Golden Crow.[?1] 人多之時(shí)，仙舟駕駛著憂兔；獨(dú)處之時(shí)，仙舟驅(qū)動(dòng)著金烏。

按：英譯將磊磊和落落分別譯出，取磊磊（石頭）多之義，落落孤高不合群之義。

In destiny, they met the homeless floating flames, not knowing that the Heliobi was a poisonous woe.?造化弄人，他們遇到無家可歸的漂浮火焰，不知這歲陽是有毒的禍害。

They can trick without words on paper. They can please without poetry or song.?他們無須紙筆就能騙人，他們不作詩歌就能怡人。

Know that illusions are but dreams, and careful to feed demons your joys or tears.[?2]?須知幻想不過是夢寐，要留心，別將歡樂與淚水交給魔鬼。

[?1] In the legends of the Primeval Imperium, the moon was a "Gloomy Hare," while the sun was a "Golden Crow." This refers to the Reignbow (the Xianzhou fleet) sailing across the galaxy.?在古國的傳說中，月亮是一只“憂兔”，而太陽則是一只“金烏”。這句指帝弓（仙舟艦隊(duì)）穿行星系。

[?2] Historical records describe Heliobi as a species of formless energy creatures that can absorb human emotion and influence behaviors. 按文獻(xiàn)記載，歲陽是一種沒有形體的能量生物，可以吸收人類的情感并影響人的行為。

Gloomy Hare：玄兔。字面意思是“憂郁的野兔”。英譯似不妥。gloomy 在形容天氣、環(huán)境時(shí)才表示陰暗（玄），而且這種天氣和環(huán)境會(huì)給人憂郁的感覺。

Golden Crow：金烏。字面意思是“金色的烏鴉”。

帝弓明察若洞焰，神臂獨(dú)張迎焚風(fēng)。

燎燎精怪競憂懼，煌煌赤星伺網(wǎng)羅。［注三］

死士云合有廿百，誓言鐵骨薦天艟。

六龍：指太陽?！吨芤住でゅ鑲鳌罚骸按竺鹘K始，六位時(shí)成。時(shí)乘六龍以御天?！痹妗吨袊裨捦ㄕ摗芬痘茨献印ぬ煳钠罚骸半贾刽撕?，爰息六螭，是謂縣車?！备哒T注：“日乘車駕以六龍，羲和御之。日至此而薄于虞泉，羲和至此而回六螭。”

銜艫：船連著船。

迢邈：遙遠(yuǎn)。

橦（chuáng）：桅桿、旗桿。

闡弘：闡揚(yáng)光大。

自在身：佛教用語。指沒有煩惱、舒適自在的身軀。又《管子·內(nèi)業(yè)》：“有神自在身，一往一來，莫之能思。失之必亂，得之必治?！保ū居猩裨谛闹?，一時(shí)去一時(shí)來，沒有人能猜想它。但心中失去了神就必定紛亂，得到了神就必定安定。）此句“身”為衍文。

野馬：指游氣?！肚f子·逍遙游》：“野馬也，塵埃也，生物之以息相吹也?！?/span>

涓塵：細(xì)水與微塵。

建木：樹名?！渡胶＝?jīng)·海內(nèi)南經(jīng)》：“有木，其狀如牛，引之有皮，若纓、黃蛇。其葉如羅，其實(shí)如欒，其木若蓲，其名曰建木?！薄渡胶＝?jīng)·海內(nèi)經(jīng)》：“有木，青葉紫莖，玄華黃實(shí)，名曰建木，百仞無枝，有九欘，下有九枸，其實(shí)如麻，其葉如芒。大皞爰過，黃帝所為。”袁珂《中國神話通論》認(rèn)為，各種傳說樹木中只有建木具有天梯性質(zhì)。

Part III 其三

［注五］“殘傷”“垢染”“嗔?！薄八薄盁o記”為墮入魔陰身的五種癥狀。“殘傷”指肉體因外界暴力遭受嚴(yán)重的損傷，必須通過自愈能力進(jìn)行漫長而痛苦的修復(fù)；“垢染”指由于肉身不朽，感染了某種頑強(qiáng)的天外病毒或細(xì)菌與之長期共存；“嗔恚”指產(chǎn)生怨恨、損害他人的心境，情緒開始在劇烈的悲喜怨嗔中起伏；“他化”指肉身開始生出變異的器官，無法再保持人形的穩(wěn)定；“無記”指心被莫名的空虛感所占奪，陷于渾渾噩噩的狀態(tài)。此段描繪了帝弓吞玉后看到仙舟民因長生不死而墮入魔陰身的悲慘未來。

［注六］“癡狂笑太卜”源于一仙舟民俗故事。傳說某仙舟上有一人認(rèn)為建木神實(shí)為天外異物，反對(duì)長生，佯狂不仕以表決心。此處“太卜”泛指仙舟貴族，引申為建木神實(shí)，因貴族是仙舟上最早領(lǐng)受神實(shí)的一批人。

南柯：指夢境。典出李公佐《南柯太守傳》。

識(shí)海：猶藏識(shí)之海。凈因法師譯注《六祖壇經(jīng)》：“惠能借用《入楞伽經(jīng)》的理論，說明心本清凈，被貪嗔癡等自私的思想污染后，產(chǎn)生種種分別，起惑造業(yè)，貯存于第八阿賴耶識(shí)（即人見聞?dòng)X知之性）中。佛家把第八識(shí)稱為藏識(shí)海，又叫真如海，是宇宙的本體。它如大海一樣，一遇風(fēng)力鼓蕩的外緣，其水便興起了激湍的七識(shí)波浪，變現(xiàn)出整個(gè)物質(zhì)世界。”

泥犁：即“泥犂”，佛教用語，指地獄。此界一切皆無，是十界中最惡劣的境界。

嗔恚（huì）：憤怒。

耆（qí）宿：年高而素有德望的人。

褐夫：指貧賤之人。

The Reignbow merged with the jade, seeking epiphany, and the Wisdomwalker in dreams showed premonition. [?4]?帝弓與玉石融合，以求啟示；遍智天君在夢中向他展露了預(yù)兆。

[?4] The motif of "merged with the jade" originated when the sage Xuan Yao embedding the jade abacus directly into the human skull to peer into the future. This is evidently a misappropriation. "Defiled" means that, due to the immortality of the flesh for the Xianzhou people, the body may be forced to eternally co-exist with incurable alien viruses or bacteria. "Maddened" means the person starts to feel anger and violent desires, and starts to have extreme mood swings. "Mutated" means the flesh is starting to produce mutated organs and can no longer maintain a stable humanoid form. "Forgetfulness" means the person's mind is taken over by a sense of emptiness, and spends their days in an oblivious daze. The arbor branches were mere axles to the war chariot, and the Reignbow's fleeting arrow found the divine plantation.?建木的枝干不過是戰(zhàn)車的輪軸，帝弓的快箭指向了神樹。

Turning, the Reignbow released their flashing arrow to the tree, and fear and horror in human hearts stricken.?帝弓只一轉(zhuǎn)身，向大樹射出閃光的箭矢，眾人的心中滿是驚恐。

The Reignbow thought the Xianzhou residents were blinded by the seduction of an endless lifespan and were no different from the nameless sovereign's rapacious fear of death. However, awed by the Reignbow's heroic exploits and prestige, they could only sentence the hero to continual hibernation. "Watchful sleep" refers to the rotating cryo-sleep system used when the Xianzhou Alliance first left its home world. 尾銜：指前后銜接。

劫簸：即“劫波”，簡稱“劫”。

戡：用武力平定叛亂。此處用法似不妥。

Part IV 其四

The years came and went, as the fleet floated in uncertainty. 時(shí)光飛逝，艦隊(duì)前路茫茫。

Muldrasil the gigantic we first beheld, as it sucked the stars' energies till all were empty. 我們先看到巨大的穹桑，它吸取繁星的能量，使它們都變得空虛。

[Postscript] This part describes the "Flaming Catastrophe," one of the Three Sufferings of the Era of Bloodshed (approximately 5000 —?8000 Star Calendar). At the time, the Xianzhou Zhuming detected gravity waves from a massive object, but failed to capture any light signals. Only when the Xianzhou Alliance drew nearer did the stargazers realize that this massive object was a Dyson tree feeding off nearby stars. It was also the mortal enemy of the Primeval Imperium — Muldrasil, homeland of the Wingweavers. What petrified the Xianzhou even more was that the ship behemoths of the Viscorpus also appeared. The Viscorpus were directed by the Wingweavers, and the two races were living in a symbiotic relationship. As if attracted by the power of the Ambrosial Arbor, Muldrasil slowly began approaching the Luofu, and the most epic battle in the history of Xianzhou soon broke out. Fatigued from the Civil War (the "Living Catastrophe" of the Three Sufferings), the aurumaton rebellion, and their emigration plan, the Xianzhou residents were powerless to counter such a crisis. They released all the prisoners in cryo-hibernation — including the hero of this epic ode, the Reignbow.?

[?1] "Xuanyuan" is a famed bow of legend from the Primeval Imperium. Here, it refers to the Reignbow's weapon. “軒轅”是古國傳說中的名弓。這里指的是帝弓的武器。

[?2] This line transitions rather bluntly. Together with the next line, it is possibly a speech by the Reignbow to boost morale before the battle. 三山月：不詳?；蛟S為“三山”+“月”。“三山”即海中仙山方壺、瀛洲、蓬萊（見上文“圓嶠”條），而古人認(rèn)為月從海中出。

鏑鳴：當(dāng)為“鳴鏑”，響箭。

百谷風(fēng)：不詳?；蛟S為“百”+“谷風(fēng)”?！肮蕊L(fēng)”為東風(fēng)；一說為谷中之風(fēng)，是大風(fēng)。

虛陵：洞天名?！对企牌吆灐罚骸暗谄叨朊纳蕉????周回三百里，名曰虛陵洞天。在嘉州峨媚縣，真人唐覽治之。”（此為三十六小洞天之第七。）

方壺：見前文“圓嶠”條。

頹圮：坍塌。

澌流觱（bì）泄：指水流走。澌，流水?！坝v”通“滭”，水涌出。韓上桂《游七星巖黑洞火盡崖出題巖上石壁》：“陰潭水黑腹沉虹，澌流觱泄咽金嚨。”

玉闕：傳說中天帝、仙人居住的宮闕。

Dazzling jade whistled through space, as the full might of the arrow pierced the stars and gloom.?璀璨的玉笛在太空中呼嘯而過，箭矢全力穿透繁星與黑暗。

[?4] The historical record shows the battle formation during this war was in this order, from the nearest to Muldrasil to the furthest: the Yaoqing, the Luofu, the Yuque, the Zhuming, the Fanghu, the Cangcheng, and the Xuling. The Xuling and Fanghu were far from the frontlines. Other records point to the Reignbow firing their arrow from the bow of the Yaoqing. This ripped open a fissure into the void, and a monstrous wave of imaginary force spewed forth from it. There is no mention of such in existing records, and the incident may be poetic license from the author.
