【雅思口語 5-8月】失望的電影 ?

There’s a movie I recently watched called?Nice and Easy. Basically it’s a French?comedy?that?follows?a twenty-something?guy who’s got two doctor degrees but made the conscious decision?not to work.?I watched it on a Friday night on my own, as I was sipping a cup of tea and snuggling up in a cozy blanket.
?
I decided to watch the movie because it was all over social media, partly because the?theme?reminds people of?the?lying flat mentality?in Gen Z?where young people joke about not working and just chilling. But it’s just something people say, in reality few would actually follow through. That’s why I was really curious to see how things would pan out?for the jobless guy?in the movie.
?
As it turned out, I really enjoyed the first half. Despite having no job and no ambitions, the protagonist?was having the time of his life, just chilling and he seemed genuinely happy. However, as the movie progresses, he somehow changed his mind?and started to join the rat race. The movie ends with him making a fortune and starting a family.
?
I’m a bit?disappointed about?this seemingly happy ending. The way I see it, the movie could have explored?so many possibilities that come with an unconventional way of living. Instead, it chose to stick to the conventional, which is a bit anti-climactic?for me.
?
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t work hard. On the contrary, it’s super important to work hard in order to achieve anything in a competitive society. But I guess for me movies are supposed to be escapism, so I would like it to be more idealistic?than realistic. That’s why I’d say overall, the movie has a promising start but I’m not a big fan of the ending.?
