not only, but also 的幾種常見的變體形式：
1. not only的變體形式：
常見的變體有not just, notmerely, not simply, not solely 等。
(1) Such workis not just devalued in that country,its nature is widely misunderstood. 這種工作在那個國家不但被貶低，而且工作的性質(zhì)也被許多人誤解。
(2) There isnot merely concision in these lines but also elegance. 這些臺詞寫得不僅簡潔，而且優(yōu)雅。
(3) Not simplydid he teach school,but he wrote novels. 他不僅教書，也寫小說。
(4) This novelis not solely suitable for us in studying modern fiction but can also be usedin the teaching. 這本小說不但適合我們研究現(xiàn)代小說，而且能用于教學(xué)。
2. but also 的變體形式：
a: 省去 also，只留 but；
b: 省去 but，只留also；
c: but...aswell；
d: but also 全部省略。
(1) Scarlettquaked lest she and Frank lose not only their freedom but the house, the storeand mill. 斯佳麗害怕得發(fā)科，惟恐她與弗蘭克不僅會失去自由，而且還會失去房屋、商店及鋸木廠。
(2) She's notonly an excellent housewife also a first class mathematician. 她不僅是一個出色的家庭主婦，而且是一位一流的數(shù)學(xué)家。
(3) Not onlydoes he write the words to the songs, but he composes the music as well. 他不僅給歌曲寫詞，也譜曲。
(4) Such achange would improve not only his social image but his health as well. 這樣的變化不僅會提高他的社會形象，而且會改善他的健康。
(5) Not onlydid I hear the car, I actually saw it crash. 我不僅聽見了車的聲音，而且還親眼看見了那輛車撞壞了。
(6) I not onlyhad received a title of the doughnuts lady, I had become a landmark where thekids waited for their bus. 我不僅榮膺圈餅女士的稱號，而且我也成為一座孩子們在那兒等車的路標(biāo)。
