三伏天，通常處于小暑與處暑節(jié)氣之間，包括頭伏、中伏和末伏，是一年中氣溫最高且又潮濕、悶熱的日子。

其實(shí)在英語中，dog days專門來形容北半球7、8月這段最熱的天氣。

根據(jù)韋氏詞典，dog days即指7月初到9月初，北半球天氣悶熱潮濕的這段時(shí)間：

the period between early July and early September when the hot sultry weather of summer usually occurs in the northern hemisphere

也有人開玩笑說，這段時(shí)間的天氣把狗都熱得趴在地上直喘氣，所以就叫dog days了。
