The regiments of the Indian army were incorporated from the armies of the princely states, after independence. Every unit and regiment therefore has a historic significance, even from the pre-independence era. It is one such regiment in parade that you see on today’s homepage, to commemorate Indian Army Day. The force was originally formed as a part of the British Indian Army, as were the Royal Indian Air Force, and the Royal Indian Navy.
