Mrs Errol

Mrs Errol does not tell him about the Earl's feelings of hate for her, because she wants Cedric to love his grandfather, but she does not want to live alone without her son.


Cedric

Cedric is a kind, friendly boy because he always wants to help his friends, so he gives the Earl's money to Bridget and her family.


The Earl

The Earl gives money to his grandson, because he wants Cedric to forget about his mother, but he is a much nicer person at the end of the story.


Mr Hobbs

Mr Hobbs has a grocery store in New York, and he likes Cedric's visits to his store, so he and Dick are very sorry when Cedric goes away to England.
