One typical feature of contemporary society is that people spend less time with families.

In this essay, reasons and impacts will be explored.

Because of industrialization and urbanization, traditional extended families have thrunk. That is, nuclear families have been the main mode especially in cities.

With a less attachment from original relatives, people don't rely on support from big families as much as how they used to do .

At the same time, as rural places have continuously been deteriorated in some countries, people have to migrate to big cities where there are jobs for living.

And these places may be thousands of miles away from their home, which is almost impossible for them to return constantly.

As a result of this, they tend not to meet their families very often.

One is that some people can not help feeling lonely since there is less connection between them and their blood relations.

These kind of people live alone in metropolises ,working day and night .

Therefore, some are exhausted mentally and physically, especially being tortured by loneliness and a feeling of isolation.

Usually, they leave their older parents at home and this in turn aggravates the problem of aging population.

In other words, who is supposed to take care of the elderly with less mobility?

In certain developing countries, the living of empty nesters-those elderly with children far away has been a dilemma facing governments and their remote, independent children.
