Repairing to that long-famous restaurant which was characterized with its iconic traditional Shanghainese cuisine, I took cautious and prudent steps on and on on a serpentine way among narrow streets in the classical area, the very central part of the downtown area which was the main part of the International Settlement, just in order to avoid harum-scarum riders who were always riding in a helter-skelter fashion and it was so lucky that I got accident not but was so luckless as ever that I was stopped by a traffic light when only ten-plus meters away from the main door of the hotel where the restaurant I am to dine at was located. Bathed in the scorching sunlight which almost set the whole city ablaze with hot waves, I had my entire body drenched with drops of perspiration when waiting for the green light on with bated breath, as the torrents of vehicles were coursing in their own directions like the dews of sweat doing down my hot cheeks. The brief waiting time felt as if a whole summer to me, which inversely offered me a chance of ruminating over the matter I had just encountered early that morning that upon arriving at my seat in the middle of the nearest row to the screen in a parlour, to my disappointment, I saw a young mother coming in with his little son perhaps three of age and sat down at the near end of my row, so close to me, whereby I had a strong sense of presentiment that the time of relaxation I was to relish could probably be ruined and expectedly, they kept talking to each other throughout the hours of film and for not annoying others, she, a non-Shanghainese whispered in her son's ear in an unknown non-native accent and he replied thunderously more often than not and was not educated to keep wordless and just to speak quietly in such a public section where everyone is expected to be speechless, if not ill-bred. I distanced myself from them by changing a seat near the other end where I had a much worse angle of watching the movie but the effect was not as good as I had expected.
