?Let’s talk about reference. Reference is very sensitive subject. Whenever you pose something very good on facebook, like immediately get a lot of message, show me reference, where did you copy this from. And I always keep trying people like, okay, that was more reference because I'm not afraid of doing that because I think finding a good reference is another very good skill. But I want you guys to also learn how to do it.?

So we need to take all the possible shortcuts to get there. So the first reason would be using for reference saves you a lot of time.?

So don't try to kind of waste your time proving yourself with people that you can actually compile those together, like taking references with all different colors and trying to makes marriage them, ?

I would say to concentrate on the story, you need to get to spend a little bit more time. When your reference on the stage where you're looking for references rather than spending your time adjusting those photos to fit together.?

So and that's pretty much it guys.To summarize, once again, trying to find a natural looking reference, try to use photos that you have rights to use to like something you pay for like shutter stock or some other services and also try to find a good reference like spend a little bit more time and forget those people who are trying to keep saying that you use a good reference. That’s another ability that you’re having Because you're the guy who are looking for these references among millions amount of photos, you are picking the good one, because you've got a good eye.?

8. Visualizing Your Story---3-2.Refining Your Sketch

So now what I would do basically, I will go back to the stuff that i've done for week number two, I believe, and take a fresh look at it.?

8. Visualizing Your Story---3-3.Setting the Mood

So now we have this refined sketch over here. And I will start looking for references, Because as I keep saying, my goal is to do a final picture.?

And so whatever media the help I can use, I will go for you to kind of established this to go from here to very finalized really nicely lead the beautiful picture as quickly as possible.?

Because as a storyteller, I would probably have like 10 out of these in a row to finalized in the same day. So I could not spend like ages trying to deal with everything scratch.?

So the first step, as I already mentioned, is to find a good reference. So for ground base, I was speaking, I was looking at this picture and I was figuring okay. There is a very kind of generic crown, but I really want it to be very moody as well.?

So I need to find a good location. Like probably I can use Google maps to find a good location. So I can rotate around and kind of find it good ground base for that. ?

And actually I found this place. And as you can see, I can rotate around. So it will allow me to kind of pick up a really nice angle that I would probably use it as I can only see some of these guys that they are very quite promising.?

So screen grab this guy. Let's see if it works, we’ll go to my frame. But it's actually kind of stick to cinematic framing. And and let's just create a new file. 2350 by 1000. It's kind of cinematic aspect ratio standard.?

Let’s just resize it a little bit. Bring in a background.?

Let's just take our refined sketch and oK. So now as we have on the ground paste right. I activate my sketch and using blending mode to separate. actually I don’t need any one of them.?

It’s not miles away, Now I need to find the characters. So we having those two characters. And I made my own research just to save you time when I found this really nice reference of these nights walking so. I will take these reference. and I will use it just support it. So we all need to do is cut out these guys.?

So I will do very well geographic doing that. ? So we will be using like magnetic tool. Well, actually I can do well for now I will just use blending modes. Get rid of whites, Just as a temporary solution,?

I’ll cut them out probably. So Place that they’re not miles away. They look really pretty cool. Behind my sketch and see. You see my road often is look off. I need to go back to my Google maps. That's why using Google maps is very cool because you can adjust your perspective.?

perspective very good. So and now I will screen grab it again and see if it works. Actually, you know what kind of like the way it goes. But let's see how if we can do it nicer.?

But I also found a bunch of different skies. And I will start testing them out, To see which one kind of helps create a better storytelling. First thing we need to separate. Look at the sky. And now we’ll get our sky. ?

It looks pretty cool. And what's good about it? At any given point, like for example. quickly get rid of this. At any point, I can still have a lot of control. I can rotate my camera like I can rotate the landscape. And as you can see, like I can make something like this very quickly. Or rotate my angle a little bit. I would like a table and a little bit towards the vanishing point. So it's all up to me.?

That's what I keep saying. Those tools that I am trying to show you a very design driven and a storytelling driven because trying to get this one picture working. You have all the freedom to replace the character, and replace the ground and so on. It's a very design and story driven process. That's why I like to approach it this way.?

and that's the beauty of you find me using a good reference. because each one of those will give you different ideas how to improve the storytelling. like for example, days raised over here properly give me a good idea that I probably can use like light pulls over the ground.?

like if there was some like the light was hitting. So I can emphasize a few bits here and there,?

Like in dark and the rest of it. So what I would normally do. I would go and say, whatever I'm trying to get the most out of my frame. Instead of like trying to refine and wait one is working, I would go and say, that's my v1, This my first version will like the sky like the rays of light, the light poles. that's good. That's a solid base and go on duplicated. Say v2, and then I go with this guy.?

What's good about this guy? And I keep asking myself for like, let’s include this both guys. This guy is, and that will be my second version.?

And what I need to do. Just ground a little bit. So I will use blending modes heavily all the time. So basically I'm doing here to simulate this balance light coming from the sky.?

I created a layer. And using blending modes, I just excluded the dark. So gives me a very nice approximation of what will be happening without light. Give me a little bit of sphere. So that's my V2,?

And with really nice background reference, I can be quickly brings together an experiment and find the most efficient way to express this story.
